Restaurante Bernini — Restaurant in Funchal

My husband and I were dining in this restaurant last night 18th of November.My husband had an omelette nothing worth talking about really and chips.I had carbonara again nothing fancy about any of the dishes we had. I asked for another white wine ( the house wine ) The lady came with a small carafe the same as the first one I had.My husband noticed while she poured there was which we believed as we both saw,a Jenny long leg. floating in the carafe.The lady quickly mumbled to us and pointed up to the ceiling and hurriedly took it away.We waited about 5 minutes when she arrived with a bottle of wine, with another small carafe and no apology at any time.We were bewildered,but not wanting to make a fuss we thought someone surely is going to say something or maybe even take the price of the wine off . Not on your Nelly she came with the bill and we paid 55 euros for spoiling...

Waited well over an hour for food in here. When it came the pasta was ok but the pizza was the worst I've ever tasted. Bread was undercooked and doughy and the cheese and toppings were the wrong way around. I didn't ever think you could put too much cheese on a pizza but these guys proved me wrong. There was like a ton of the stuff on top of the sliced tomato and pepper toppings and it made the pizza greasy and unappetising. When it came to asking for the bill we waited a further twenty minutes or so for it to arrive and another ten minutes for the waiter to come over with the card reader so we could pay and leave. Very disappointed and won't be going back....

The food here was good and we all enjoyed our meal ,but that was all undone by an incredibly long wait. We were dining with 2 young kids in the evening so efficiency is important. It took a long time to order our meal, the nibbles for our starter didn't take too long , but the wait for the mains after this did. One of the mains had not been ordered in the kitchen so one of our party then had to wait longer and eat alone. Mistakes happen but there was no apology or reflection of this on our bill.
