We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel receptionist. Don't be fooled by the interior decor. Our expectations were exceeded very quickly. The staff were all so happy to look after us, especially our young waiter, and they regularly checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our meal. We had the seafood Cataplana to share with a bottle of wine. The Cataplana was out of this world. The portion size was huge and the taste was unlike anything I'd had before. It was a messy experience, but you don't even care about the mess you're making while you're digging into the meal because it simply tasted that good. We shared a cinnamon rice pudding dessert, which was not on the menu but was a special that evening - and we were very lucky to experience it. While not a dessert I would typically go for, that has forever changed after trying it here. After we paid the bill, we were given a free shot of port each to enjoy, which was a nice touch to finish off a wonderful evening. Casa Palmeira feels like a true local dining experience that everyone who visits...
Read moreI'm so glad we were recommended this restaurant by our host. It may look unassuming, but don't let that deter you. The peri peri chicken was one of the best I've ever had. Moist & succulent, with lovely BBQ flavour, it was a small organic or young chicken bursting with flavour. It wasn't as spicy as I would usually like but honestly that didn't matter it was just so good. It comes with great hand cut fries and we had the most perfectly seasoned tomato salad to go with it. It's honest, simple food that lets the quality of the ingredients and skill of the chef speak for itself. There is nowhere to hide with this kind of cooking and they absolutely nailed it. I can see myself coming here daily until our holiday is over to try the rest of the food. Very friendly, attentive service with good...
Read moreCasa Palmeira is one of those Restaurants 'off the beaten Track', which when you find, you wish you'd found it sooner 👍 The Restaurant is up a steep road just off Estr. do Farol. It's deceptively big with lots of space to sit outside. The food is all freshly cooked with excellent ingredients. The Menu has a distinct 'Portuguese' flavour, lots of Fish and Seafood 😎 Food can take a little bit longer to arrive than usual (as sme others have complained about 🤦🏻♂️) but really it's not that bad, and the location is so pleasant, time flies so it won't bother you👍 Service is Very good 😀 Staff are very helpful and friendly, regularly checking if everything is okay, and checking on Drinks. If you want a REALLY good (reasonably priced) meal, definitely try here, you won't be...
