Garden Carvoeiro | Restaurante & Lounge — Restaurant in Lagoa

Unfortunately we booked a table at this restaurant as it looked very nice from the outside and the reviews were good. I say unfortunately because we had one of the worst meals we’ve ever had. To begin with, after taking our order of drinks and food we waited for at least 20 mins to get our drinks served. I know cocktails take a little bit longer to make but a bottle of fizzy water?! Then the starters arrived, a buffalo mozzarella salad which was nice (can’t really get that wrong!) and tempura prawns. The prawns were really dry and came sitting on a few salad leaves that hadn’t even been dressed, not good. We also had to remind them to bring us the bread we had ordered which, when it arrived it was really disappointing as it was really dry. We were hoping that our steaks would redeem the poor starters but sadly that was not the case. The steaks arrived cold with some potatoes that were hard and inedible and a side of cabbage that was uneventful and also cold. The sauces that we ordered were the worst I have ever tasted. The Roquefort sauce had the consistency and look resembling tepid milk with not even a hint of cheese to be tasted. The pepper sauce was cold, too thick and again, inedible. The only redeeming factor was that the staff were very good when we complained and dealt with the situation very well. Maybe the chef had a bad day and it looked like they were training staff but there are a lot of eateries in and around Carvoeiro were you can eat extremely well. We will certainly won’t be...

We were a big group of 14 and were separated into two groups. We waited ages for both food and drinks. It took 40min for 1 Softdrink to be served… Some drinks were never even brought… The waiters were unfriendly and some seemed as if it were their first day. Our food wasn’t nice, the pasta was overcooked and almost cold when served. The portions were very small and not enough, even though we had bread to start. A person out of our group ordered a steak, we had to send it back because it was still raw even though we ordered well done. After that he had to wait for another 30min whilst we were all long done. After these 30min we cancelled the order. As it was already 10Pm and we had arrived at 7Pm. They had a live singer, her microphone was way to loud making it hard to speak to each other. We weren’t the only ones complaining, there were multiple people trying to talk to...

The chef has no idea what medium rare the first steak to come out was medium and had a hair on it the replacement was blue (picture below) . The restaurant was severely understaffed and therefore left our table uncleared from starters when the main meal came despite it taking about an hour for it to come been twice before and everything has been great it’s going very downhill. Some staff were brilliant and very helpful whilst others went into a mood after being faced with a hair in the food as if it was too inconvenient to serve edible food. certain staff were very receptive of the criticism and took real note of feedback and seemed ready to better the restaurant. Not suitable for large parties as you are left with slow service due to being criminally understaffed and very disappointed based on previous experiences. Go somewhere...
