Dear Abby from Abigail’s Café, We have been visiting your place for nearly 2 years since we moved to Luz and after many experiences, we believe it it time to give a review.

At first, we were quite happy to find a place with good coffee and quite a nice atmosphere. The place is comfy and your staff is nice (for most of them). The food is fresh indeed and we love the juices and smoothies.

But after a couple of visits, we got bored. Well, what can I say? The menu is just the same. Nothing change. If you advertise so much the freshness of the produce you bring to the table, why not playing with it? weekly specials or on season special dish could be a direction.

Same with smoothies. Try coming up with season’s special. For juices & smoothies inspiration, we recommend you « Joe & the Juice ».

When it comes to vegan options, you offer quite the same as most. Very limited and not so attractive. I can get myself a Beyond Meat patty and add up basic veggies myself. Nothing special about this and certainly not good value for money. For a wanna-be healthy place, could be better.

And to advertise gluten-free options without offering gluten-free bread is quite gutsy. Kuddos my dear.

Last but not least. For your next video, you might want to give more thumbs up to your staff...

I actually like this place for a nice cup of coffee and this review is regarding my last experiences there. I ordered a sourdough bread with avocado spread and it was an expensive joke. The bread is so thin, I thought they might have run out and maybe just tried their best to still prepare my order but forgot communicating it. It also seemed like the typical Portuguese white bread (which I also really love but it’s just not what they are selling on the menu). Then I remembered, the last time I ordered, it was exactly the same 😅

Regarding the service, well it’s kind of a self service situation and you always have to go in and pay for every single order. I understand there are processes in place but when I went there with my 6 month old baby, I would have appreciated a little bit more flexibility. It was very frustrating. So I thought it would be nice to give staff a little bit of freedom to handle these situations more flexible (as I can understand that they don’t want to do anything wrong). I also understand if I am not the target group with the baby but I just wanted to let you know that I felt this way.

I will always come back for a great coffee...

I would love to give this place a great review.

However:

average food, but high prices especially as there's no table service no table service, okay... But no table service and waiters who don't clean tables, and seem lost to give your order? And then when you get your order, no cutlery (I've green a few times, this always happens). A bit much given the very, very high prices there are two crazy people who live directly across from the place. They'll shout the whole time you're here, and apparently cops can't do anything about it.

On the plus side, the manager is very nice, and tries her best. However, either the waiters don't care about good service, or haven't been trained well. Maybe something for the manager to consider.

At the prices charged, there are much better options within walking distance.

I hope this feedback helps improves things, I don't feel I can come back until they do. A shame, been living...

Really nice food and enjoyed the green smash smoothie. However the aggressive tenant from across the alley ruined our breakfast with the shouting, swearing and physical abuse of his dog. The staff barely batted an eyelid so I assume it's a regular occurrence, and I see from other reviews it has happened. Other tables left because of it. At one point he threw a sheet of glass out the door and almost hit a passerby. At that point, one of the staff came out and exchanged words with him but it didn't stop. It was upsetting to see and the animal abuse was particularly horrific. It's not the fault of the restaurant and can appreciate that they can't do anything, but acknowledgement from the staff to their customers and perhaps suggest a move inside would've been better service. We enjoyed the food but I wouldn't come back here in case it happened again.

The place was fantastic! I had the best cup of coffee here throughout my entire trip in Portugal and I visited four other cities with many cafes and restaurants. No surprise that I also ended up buying a bag of coffee for my moka pot back home. I would also recommend the breakfast burrito bowl which comes with this perfect sauce - definitely add the feta cheese on top, too. There were plenty of other options that sounded amazing, including interesting smoothie combos and some classic breakkie combos like eggs on toast. The vibe of the place is great if you want to chill with a friend or do some work here. Staff are friendly and easygoing. 5/5 would recommend when in Lagos!

The vegan brownie is out of this world. So incredibly fudgey and dense. If you're into lighter, fluffier brownies, this isn't for you but if you like a lot of chocolate and something that almost melts in your mouth, it's here. Vegan desserts can either be weird textures and strange tasting (common) or really amazing (rare). This is the latter. The oat milk latte was the best coffee I've had in Portugal so far. Wasn't sold on the egg burrito or smoothie. Neither were bad, they were decent. Just not as good as they could be. (Egg was cold.) The ambience is also nice and the staff are all friendly. Prices can seem a bit steep but you get what you pay for! It's worth it.
