Firstly, you have to walk in to this hotel - it is on a pedestrianised street right in the very centre of old town Lagos. You only have to walk a couple of hundred metres from where the taxi or bus drops you off. The main bus and rail stations are a fair walk away. The hotel reception is on the first floor; you have to walk up about 18 steps.||||They say that they offer breakfast, 8.00 am to 10.00 am - but they also actively discourage you from that option, suggesting that there are plenty of places nearby where you can, at least, get a coffee and croissant, etc.||||The bedrooms are perfectly adequate, as is the linen, etc. My room had a 'city view' - i.e. it faced onto the street. But it was not particularly noisy.||||There are coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, bars, late bars, and clubs, in all directions, straight out the front door. ||||Staying at this small hotel was a good option for me. Management/Reception was hospitable and helpful with...

The rooms on the other side of the hotel with a seaview may be quieter. Also, access from the street is via a steep flight of stairs, there is no lift. For 70 euros per night the hotel is good value. ||||Just one point, I told the taxi driver at the station to take us to the Hotel Mar Azul and he proceeded to take us miles out of town to a large block of apartments also called Mar Azul. Be sure you show your driver the...
Read morepossibly the worst hospitality staff i’ve ever encountered in my life. seems like the reviews here are very divided - the room is ok, spacious. aircon is noisy, found dirty rags in my room. expect to hear the main door slamming and people talking. the only saving grace is their location.
if like me, you’ve encountered a flight delay and check in past 2000h, i suggest you cancel your booking and find a nicer hotel elsewhere. otherwise be prepared for next-level hostility, unempathetic and rude staff who will lecture you and blame you for situations beyond your control.
i find it incredulous that they’ve gotten a 4 star rating on google. i’ll be honest, for the price location and rooms it’s definitely worth staying but the attitude of the staff is appalling and...
