Had the fried baby squid. Phenomenal! Lots of cooked garlic, olive oil, cilantro and a bit of piri piri sauce. The chef is from Africa. Really nice flavors! Had a Quinta da Rafa vinho Verde. Very nice with the squid. Also had the lamb meatballs. Perfectly cooked a medium rare. The waiter recommended a switch to red wine which of course he should! A Portuguese Douro Red. Almost a perfect blend of a typical California Cab and Pinot noir. I chose the fig cake to go. It did not disappoint either! Another note: service was stellar. I’ve found service in Portugal thus far to be very spotty. Either very good, or very poor. This establishment definitely falls in the very good category! I highly recommend!

One of the most memorable dining experiences of our vacation. Excellent service and fabulous tapas menu. I highly recommend the grilled beef cubes and the raw tuna with mango purée. Wonderful wines and desserts, too. Great atmosphere and there seemed to be no rush in trying to get us out of the door, which was great because it was pouring rain outside and we were in no rush to leave (I probably added my dessert, a coffe, and glass of port wine because of the weather).

We arrived at the restaurant quite late at night (not by choice) and were afraid we wouldn’t find a table, but we were warmly welcomed by the waiter, Seu José. He was very kind throughout the entire dinner, offering great recommendations — and what a recommendation! We had the osso buco and the octopus, among other dishes, but those two really stood out. The food was so tasty — absolutely delicious — and the service was excellent. I really recommend it.

I ate here whilst on holiday in Lagos. The reason for eating here was that it was rated 4.7 on Google reviews. Surely can't go wrong. Service was solid. Attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was OK. Quick turnover of tables and plenty of dogs barking outside which wasn't ideal but that's not the restaurants fault. Now the for the food. We ordered the egg, sausage and asparagus starter. Not sure what i was expecting but it was essentially 95% scrambled egg with the remainder being asparagus and some type of sausage. Not very tasty and too much egg and not enough asparagus or sausage. My partner had the ossobuco which was very nice. It appeared to be a very popular dish. I had the cod and new potatoes. The potatoes were done nicely. However, the cod was not good at all. It was riddled with bones. Every bite had a bone. I did my best to remove them but there was genuinely bones throughout. Not sure if this is how they serve it at this restaurant or if I just got unlucky but it was the worst cod I've ever eaten out. I'd rather a frozen cod from Iceland!!! Choose your dishes wisely here and I think you'll be alrite. Don't order the cod unless you like...

Taninos Restaurant is hands down the BEST restaurant in Lagos! The food was so incredibly flavourful...every tapas dish we ordered was a burst of fresh and delicious flavours! Hats off to chef Cynthia, for solo cooking all of these AMAZING dishes! The cod carpaccio, garlic shrimp, grilled octopus and steak tuna were my personal favourites. The fresh and cured cheeses, ceviche, tuna tartare and anchovies were also great side dishes. Out of the 3 days there, we dinned there on two evenings, it was THAT good! Also, the staff was so kind! The tables were full on the first night, but Bruno kindly took the time to squeeze us in for the next two evenings. Our waiter Zeca gave us great recommendations on what to order, was very kind and delivered speedy service. Francisco recommended a mouth-watering chocolate mousse, and even though we were full at that point we very much enjoyed it and even ordered it the following evening. The staff all work together and help each other, which is so nice to see.. it feels like you're dinning in their home. Definitely check this place out, you will be coming...

We chose this place because of a detailed, fantastic review left on Google maps. I want to pay that forward. This place was everything it was advertised to be and more. The staff were warm, inviting, and very helpful in helping us choose the best wines and food. And the food, was the best that we have had in portugal. The flavors were immaculate and everything was better than we could have hoped for. We're only in Lagos for one night but we would happily eat here multiple times if we were here for an extended period of time. I also want to highlight how good their wines were and how nice it was to be able to try many wines from different regions of Portugal during our dinner.

I cannot recommend this place enough! You absolutely have to come here if you...
