A cute restaurant with nice staff in Lagos's old town.
As a two-ppl party, we ordered two dishes and bread, which was far more than enough. We had stewed veal and stuffed squids. Some fries came along, but I had no idea it was the side of which dish.
The stewed veal was nicely cooked to the right point, and the tenderness and juiciness of the meat were kept but was quite salty for ppl used to lightly-seasoned food like us. At first, I couldn’t understand why adding fries chunks to this dish, but after soaking them in the sauce, everything makes sense🤩
The stuffed squid was a specialty on the menu. I cannot recall what exactly was in the squids, but certainly a huge amount of tomatoes and rice. The sauce of it was tomato-based. The squids were amazingly tender and easy to chew. It was not salty at the beginning, but got saltier afterward (recommend sharing) there were four squids.
Due to the sauce, we asked for some bread. However, the bread was quite hard and dry, but in a huge portion (Not...
Read moreNot worth wasting a meal in Lagos at this place when there’s so many other fantastic restaurants. The owner was not pleasant. Everytime we asked if a certain dish was good, he had a snarky response. “We’ll everything is popular here.” “It’s pork? So what else do you need to know?”. I thought I finally would get a nice response when I asked him what the squid was because the description just said “Lena style”. Nope lol, he replied with “it’s Lena style? That’s my mother. So you know it has rice and chorizo…”Oh okay, like what?!
On top of that, he forgot two of the tapas we ordered because he was too concerned with his own meal. The squid was average at best, tiny portions for 19 euros. The cuttlefish was fine and so was the stale bread. Skip this, it’s clear they don’t like tourists. Go someplace more friendly. It was probably the first time I haven’t tipped for a meal. The rest of the staff is super nice! But who cares if the...
Read moreWe discovered this restaurant on a hot afternoon at the end of May wandering through Lagos town.
This was our first taste of amazing Portuguese tapas and a real treat. Much better than 90% of the food served in Algarve restaurants that cater for the incoming tourists.
Everything was 5 stars except atmosphere as we took the decision to sit inside out of the heat, so it was a little quieter. We imagined that in the evening this would be 5 stars as well.
The food was outstanding and we would recommend the pork neck, the steak cubes, the tuna and the tomato salad. For two adults and two older teenagers, six plates and two portions of bread were enough (with another portion to mop up the juices!).
This was also significantly cheaper and better than the meal we had the previous night in Albufeira town at a restaurant we queued for 30mins to get into.
If I ever return to the Algarve I will be...
