The food was mostly tasty, but it doesn't get full stars because of the price. It is very expensive for tapas. Also, the dishes are too large for tapas. We ordered 4 thinking it would be like real tapas. But they are almost full plates on their own. Too big. But still expensive for what you get. We would not have ordered so much knowing they're more like regular appetisers, rather than true tapas.
The prawns and whiskey was quite tasty, but you only get 4-5 and they were overcooked and not de-veined. It is not a very big deal but for the price, I would expect such an easy thing to be done.
The oxtail was delicious, and very large portion. It was the best of all, and the only one worth the price.
The roast beef carpaccio was okay. Not great, not terrible. The balsamic dressing was a bit weird tasting. It was also a large portion but again, not sure it was worth the price tag.
The cuttlefish/onion rings/fries combo was not good. The highly processed cuttlefish sticks seemed cheap, from frozen, and from a supermarket. The onion rings were great, and the fries were handcut. But for some reason they served this with Cheez-Whiz. (Heavily processed fake cheese sauce). No one wants cuttlefish or onion rings with cheez whiz. (Or maybe Americans do?) The garlic aioli was only on the fries. I don't think any of these should have sauce already on it. I would like to choose whether my fries have that sauce or not. The "cheese" was on the side. So the other sauces should be as well.
The coffee was good and the younger servers were great! If this was only for the service, they would get 5 stars. :) They...
Read moreThis relatively new tapas restaurant is a real gem. Having passed it several days in a row we (two adults and two teens) decided to give it a try on a damp evening. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and presented with the menu. Unlike many of the more popular restaurants in Lagos the choice of tapas was small (yet more than sufficient) but the description of each was mouth watering. We didn't have long to wait and the food certainly didn't disappoint. It was in a different class above the formulaic dishes served all over Lagos. The fried prawns were excellent and the cataplana dish with pork was filling and exceptionally good. The cod and gratin dish was also very tasty. The youngest went for the salmon steak and mash, and was more than satisfied. All of this was washed down (by the adults!) with the very smooth and delicious Dona Maria (Alentejo) red wine.
Thankfully, after some indecision, we decided to try out the desserts. They didn't sound particularly appealing but the proof was in the presentation and eating. The chocolate brownie and tangerine ice-cream was simply gorgeous, as was the mango mousse. They were certainly worth the extra calories!! We finished off what was arguably the best meal we had during our five day visit to Lagos. The only slight negative was that the restaurant only took cash payment (which luckily we had), but maybe this was just a problem that night or because of the newness of the restaurant. It certainly didn't detract from a memorably great meal. Highly...
Read moreGreat attentive service and lovely dry red wine but unfortunately that’s where it stops. We ordered red sangria which was more like a very sweet sex on the beach, we didn’t drink it and ordered the red wine instead. We had the ribs and grilled squid with saffron risotto. The ribs were run of the mill and only half a rack. The chips that came with it were not seasoned at all. The saffron risotto was nice however the grilled squid had not been cleaned and had the squid eggs which was like a raw jelly all throughout it. I did ask the waiter to check with the kitchen what it was and they said it was the eggs. Not nice to have that served as it’s tasteless and gloupy. As much as the waiter was very attentive we would not be back. The most expensive meal we’ve had in Lagos costing €73 and it was the...
