On our third day in Lisbon, weary from a day of exploration that included a visit to the Christ the King Sanctuary, we sought solace and sustenance at Cantina LX, nestled within the vibrant LX Factory. Despite the fatigue from navigating multiple bus routes, our spirits lifted as we entered the restaurant, captivated by its raw yet artistic interior reminiscent of Beijing's 798 art district.
Our quest for grilled octopus led us to Cantina LX, where the sight of a massive stone oven at the heart of the restaurant hinted at the culinary delights that awaited us. Opting for the Troco de Polvo and Gambinhas, accompanied by refreshing beverages, we eagerly anticipated the flavors that awaited us.
The octopus exceeded our expectations, ranking among the finest we had sampled during our travels. Its tenderness suggested slow cooking, while a stint in the oven imparted a tantalizing depth of flavor that left us craving more. The olive oil prawns proved to be equally delightful, their succulence complemented by the savory potatoes from the octopus dish.
Overall, our dining experience at Cantina LX was nothing short of extraordinary. The impeccable flavors, coupled with reasonable pricing, made for a memorable evening. While we opted to forego wine due to the blustery conditions near the seaside, our satisfaction was undiminished.
In conclusion, Cantina LX not only satisfied our culinary cravings but also provided a glimpse into Lisbon's artistic charm. With each bite, we savored the fusion of flavors and left with memories of a meal that transcended...
Read moreFirst of all: The restaurant looks really nice, great decor I have to say! So for this reason, we decided to go in for a drink and some food. The restaurant didn’t look busy at all but it still took almost 10 minutes before someone came to take our order. I ordered a cocktail which got served to me quite fast and I have no complaints about it. It was tasty and refreshing. My partner on the other hand ordered the cantina lx craftbeer and even pointed at it on the drinks menu. While I almost finised my drink it took 10-15 min for the waiter to come back to him with a superbock beer which he obviously didn’t order. My partner told the waiter he didn’t order a superbock beer but the craft blonde beer and the waiter answered him by saying: “We don’t say craft blonde beer in Portugal” and then walked away. It was written on the drinks menu and he even pointed at it on the menu. Don’t get me wrong, misunderstandings can happen all the time but the fact that he just walked away????? We were so confused.
And about the food. We both ordered the veal burger which consisted of one small piece of white bread, a small dry overcooked burger, one slice of tomato and some dry lettuce on the side. I’m asking this to the owner of the restaurant: In all honesty, have you ever tasted and looked at it? You can not tell me it is worth 13 euros.
I’m sorry, still giving out two stars for the decor and...
Read moreI’ve spent four days in Lisbon and I’ve tried all types of food (street food, Portuguese food, fancier restaurants…) and this is by far the worst restaurant I’ve tried. The area is really cool and worth visiting, with some interesting shops and buildings. However, this restaurant was very disappointing. We ordered some starters; one of them a cheese board… in which we struggled to find the cheese, as we were served literally six slices of cheese. There was more jam on the board than cheese. We were six people, we ordered bread and they brought only three slices, so we had to order more and pay over one euro for each slice. Apart from the cheeseboard we ordered some meat that was very dried. Lastly, we’d ordered some mushrooms… that never arrived. After eating the cheese board and the meat we asked about the mushrooms and they told us they’d run out of them (something they didn’t tell us when we ordered nor when they found out about it). We ordered a ridiculously overpriced wine and ended up paying 50€ for a glass of wine and two slices of cheese. Any local, not so fancy and not hipster looking restaurant will be a much...
