Although a lot of the menu says GF (gluten free), nothing is really gluten free, not even the salad. Everything is fried together either in the friers or the frying pan (chapa). Not sure what's the point in having GF in the menu if the people with allergies and coeliac disease and many intolerants cannot eat there. It's misleading and dangerous. They had also confirmed in advance in writing via e-mail they had gluten free food so it wasn't lack of advance warning.
I went with a group for a bachelorette party, two days ago. When I arrived I spoke with the staff and realised I wouldn't be able to eat anything. I started looking at the options in the menu and thought the chicken salad looked ok even though it doesn't mention it's GF. I asked two of the staff about this and both confirmed with the kitchen that it was ok. They brought the salad out and I ate a bit of chicken and one of the staff appeared 2 min later apologising and saying the chicken was cooked in the same place as wheat tortillas. They took the plate back and made a new one without the chicken, but I had already eaten from the first one. I'm glad they owned up to the initial mistake otherwise I would have been even worse but there is no concept of what gluten is and the impacts it can have in someone with coeliac or allergies (although the menu advertises GF which will inevitably lead to these people, like me, trying to eat there). They made a 5€ (50%) discount to compensate for the week in the toilet in pain and extreme tiredness that will probably last a...
Read moreGood GOD, this place scratched an itch! I was feeling kinda peckish the other day, so - on a whim - I ordered three times my body weight of Mex Factory's godlike calories.
First off, the pollo fajitas and cauliflower crujientes should be on your bucket list. Add them to your bucket list now.
The pollo burritos were nice but lacked a bit of punch for me. I was promptly convinced by my diner-in-crime that it is my taste that is, in fact, banal, not the burrito. The same goes for the nachos con carne. Scandalously, not being a beans fan meant that I kept whining why there wasn't more cheese in my carne. Well, that's because the nachos were con a whole lot of carne, not queijo. Be prepared for some ninja spice that'll surprise you just when you think you've become immune to it, tho.
The sweet potatoes were nice but suffered a thermal reduction due to home delivery. While the fajitas can be reheated, I'm not sure this would work with the potatoes, removing a lot of their allure.
Finally, the avocado mousse... I'll be honest - if your dream is to leave this place with a cardiac arrest, then this thing is made for you. I don't know what dark magic they used to concoct a dish that feels heavier than 100% chocolate cake with a side of lard, but somehow these guys pulled it off. Eat the mousse at your own risk, but don't fret if you can't eat more than a third. Most...
Read moreA strange experience. We walked in from the inside of LX factory and we were ignored by every single worker there, even though it was empty except for one large group and a couple of tables outside. Everyone avoided looking at us. I didnt take it personally since I am nothing unusual to look at, I just assumed maybe I came in the wrong entrance? We are pretty chill people so I am patient and try to give people a chance.
So we (party of 2) walked over to where the servers were standing at the other entrance. At that point another server came rushing in the doorway from outside so fast that a knife flew off the plate, slid on the floor and landed under my son's foot. He is an adult so he calmly picked it up and handed it to her as she glared at him, snatched it from his hand and I mean snatched it. I am using that word deliberately. She looked pissed. She said nothing and rushed away. Honestly, she seemed busy and rushing while the other servers seemed to be taking their time doing nothing. Maybe she was upset with them. Vibe was off. I don't know, it was weird.
But even after that, we started to walk to a table to seat ourselves when finally the awkwardness of realizing we weren't welcome finally set in.
We left. Awkward and...
