Went on a free walking tour of Lisbon and our guide passed by this establishment and quickly said hi to the owner. He then praised long time owner Antonio who was in this same location for over 30 years. Later that night we decided to stop by for a drink. We returned several times for the next few days as we were staying down the street. Antonio is a kind and honest man who enjoys what he does. His wife is the cook and the food and drinks are top notch. Would have been easy to go to a tourist bar but there is no fun in that. We had several conversations with Antonio about local wine, cuisine, restaurants, soccer teams, etc. It felt like family interacting with him. Thanks to “Amigo Antonio” and his lovely family! He even drew up a map of Alfama for us for a walking tour and the sights he recommended were top notch and away from the...

If you are not Portuguese and visit this place, my suggestion is either don't, or ask what THEY think you should have. If you have in mind what you might want (even if it is something you have already had in Portugal), there is one individual here that will tell you no, chastise you for wanting it, tell you to go to another country, and then ask anyone Portuguese in the bar if hes right. This was honestly the only place in 10 days in Portugal (3 different cities) that I would never want to return. They hate tourists and in particular women, as he said nothing rude to my husband. Regarding the food, it's not fantastic, and we had better while in Lisboa, and even better...

I walked by this cervejaria several times before I had the chance to finally pop in, and I’m so glad I did. The interior is cozy and feels like you’re stepping back in time. We asked for six Pastéis de Bacalhau, and the owner told us we could only order them as a plate of ten. Thank goodness, because they were GOOD, and six definitely wouldn’t have been enough. The vinho verde on tap isn’t fancy, but it washed them down nicely. My only regret was not stopping her sooner; if I lived in Lisboa, I could definitely see this...

Fantastic food and even better staff. Antonio is the third generation in his family to own and operate this gem. His wife is the cook. It is in on the Lisbon Food Tour trail so if it seems busy just wait a few minutes and you will be rewarded with great hospitality and food from the heart. **Note - The address is 82 NOT 76 as is currently listed on Google Maps***

We had a wonderful dinner at Cervejaria Amigo António. The owner is the third generation to own this restaurant and provided us delicious food, great conversation, and fantastic advice. We tried the bifana, pastéis de bacalhau, chorizo (flaming), green wine (a must), and Ginja. Affordable prices. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

This is one of those places where you enter as a stranger and leave as a lifelong friend. The wines and aguardiente, while excellent, are almost secondary to the wonderful hospitality of Antonio. Beware! Time accelerates in here! You will enter when the sun is at its peak, and suddenly, it will be evening. Obrigado, minho amigo!
