Went on a free walking tour of Lisbon and our guide passed by this establishment and quickly said hi to the owner. He then praised long time owner Antonio who was in this same location for over 30 years. Later that night we decided to stop by for a drink. We returned several times for the next few days as we were staying down the street. Antonio is a kind and honest man who enjoys what he does. His wife is the cook and the food and drinks are top notch. Would have been easy to go to a tourist bar but there is no fun in that. Read moreIf you are not Portuguese and visit this place, my suggestion is either don't, or ask what THEY think you should have. If you have in mind what you might want (even if it is something you have already had in Portugal), there is one individual here that will tell you no, chastise you for wanting it, tell you to go to another country, and then ask anyone Portuguese in the bar if hes right. Regarding the food, it's not fantastic, and we had better while in Lisboa, and even better...

We asked for six Pastéis de Bacalhau, and the owner told us we could only order them as a plate of ten. Thank goodness, because they were GOOD, and six definitely wouldn’t have been enough. The vinho verde on tap isn’t fancy, but it washed them down nicely. My only regret was not stopping her sooner; if I lived in Lisboa, I could definitely see this...
