Arrived to Lisbon Oriente train station from Porto and was hungry for our last meal in Portugal before flying home the next day. Our hotel was very close to the train station and there are a lot of restaurants and food options all over. We wanted to go somewhere close that is not a place for travelers/tourists. I read reviews of this restaurant and really wanted to give it a try. It was a 13 minute walk from our hotel into a nearby neighborhood/residential area and it was well worth it! It was 6pm when we arrived and there were no customers yet, as Portuguese people eat dinner rather later. The person that worked there allowed us to sit anywhere we want and he brought over the menu and the menu was only in Portuguese. He told us that Google translate doesn't translate the menu properly so he went over everything on the menu with us and explained it all in English. Everything sounded so good, and we ended up ordering the clams starter, the octopus fried was (which was amazingly good), and the shrimp rice. Everything we ordered tasted absolutely delicious and I have no complaints! The price of the menu is not priced for tourists, but for locals so it was absolute value! The staff was super friendly and this ma & pa restaurant was our favorite throughout our trip in Portugal! They prefer cash if possible (which was understandable, being a small local business), but they do allow...
Read moreHours are not as posted, be warned! Depending on the day the staff will take a one to two hour break during off peek hours. We got there at 4:50 pm, just as they were pulling the gate down and they reopened at 6. The wait was worth it because the food was fabulous!! Make sure you get the clams, they are life changing. I got the shrimp and rice, which was good, and even better with the spicy sauce and lemon that the waitress brought me. My drink was delicious. I asked for a mojito and they were out of mint, so she recommended another that was similar and started with a "c". Can't remember the name, sorry. Better than a mojito 😊 My husband got the bbq beef ribs, which were good but a bit plain and chewy. Staff was very friendly, loved them! I'm not sure if it's normal or if they felt bad for us that we waited an hour, but they brought us complimentary olives, bread, plus a tiny glass of port after the meal. Would love to go back here again if we are ever in...
Read moreWe were more than delighted to say we've been here at Está No Papo restaurante. This was our first dinner at Lisbon, we came from Manchester, England. The manager, Lolita, was very welcoming and cheerful, she did her best suggesting the best dishes to my family. We enjoyed the clam appetizer the most. It was served with coriander, making it even more mouth-watering. Honestly, this restaurant scored pretty high and went beyond our expectation. As we had a hard time looking for a Portuguese restaurant that matches our criteria, we finally decided to give this place a try. Once again, thanks for the good food and the service...
