Fauna & Flora - Chiado — Restaurant in Lisbon

If I could give this place negative stars for ruining the start of our day, I would. Save your time and money and avoid this tourist trap! I travel often and have been traveling for the past seven weeks and this was by far the worst dining experience I have had.

We were recommended to come here and were excited about the menu and could not have been more disappointed. While the food was mediocre (the lemonade and flat white were TERRIBLE), it was the atrocious service that truly ruined the whole experience for us. Even if the food was incredible (which it was not), I would refuse to return because of the rude service. And it was not only our initial waitress, who could not have appeared more bothered by us if she tried. Throughout our very short meal there we had three different staff come to our table, as they kept walking away any time we had a question, claiming we were clearly not ready to order. All three of them were beyond rude and of zero help. When we asked for basic things (a napkin or extra plate for a shared dish) they basically threw it at us. We are from the east coast in the United States, we are accustomed to fast paced and cold workers at time - it’s kind of the NYC vibe. This was beyond that. As a doctor who works with Alzheimer’s patients, trust me, my patience is very high. I was extremely close to saying something to the one waitress for how rude she was. Which takes A LOT for me! Avoid if you have allergies! I am celiac and chose specifically a salad marked as gluten free on the menu. When the server took my order I asked if they could please watch out for cross contamination as I am celiac and very sensitive. They said they would, no worries all good, and it was specifically marked as gluten free, I didn’t need worry.

I get my salad. As I am eating something is suspiciously crunchy and tastes of wheat. I go to the kitchen and turns out the supposedly gluten free salad had gluten in it after all.

I am sitting on the toilet with extreme glutening as I write this. Very unprofessional, do not go here if you care about gf or allergies!

The service is kind and friendly, the design of the place is nice and welcoming, but the food was a big disappointment. We where 3. One tool the avocado toast that was ok but the egg was too liquidey and the dish was tasteless. Another took the "nest" with avocado and bacon and it had a strange tase, although it looked really good visually. My dish was a mushroom roasted with avocado and bacon , and I added an extra egg..the egg white was really liquid and uneatable. The tomato paste tasted badly and the bacon was raw. The overall tase of my dish was terrible and I did not eat it at all after tasting. No one at the restaurant said anything about my full plate, they did not care that I did not eat it at all.
