We were a party of three on our last evening in Lisbon. And oh, what a wonderful experience it was! Amazing authentic, fresh, and tasty food. Great local wine and beers. Fantastic live music that made every by-passer pause and look inside (the owner plays accordeon and percussions himself). The owners made us feel like visiting old friends from the moment we arrived. Although there was no table available immediately, we were offered drinks, felt well looked after and more than warmly welcomed. Grau Douro is a rather small wine bar that accommodates about 20 to 30 guests, slightly located off the main tourist traffic in the Chiado district. The menu has a thoughtful selection of excellent starters, tapas, and desserts that simply want you to taste everything. Everything comes from farms in Southern Portugal, which really sets the place appart along with the nicely arranged plates. Not to mention the wine and beers... The check of $90 was more than reasonable for the best experience of our entire stay in Portugal. This would be my first stop when I come back and I'd highly recommend anyone to check it out. Thank you, Oscar and Tania. Your new fans and fellow Canadians from...
Read moreThis is a fantastic restaurant! It is a welcoming, cozy place to chill and have a wonderful meal. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable about the wines, helpful, and responsive. The owner is friendly as well, and you will probably see him. The food itself is exquisite. We left entirely too full, and I don't regret it at all. Everything we tried was delicious. The olive tapenade was the best I've ever had. I have no idea how they got it so flavorful and savory but not overly salty. I've never had sardines as delicious as the sardine toasts. The lime mousse was like nothing I've had before, and regrettably, probably won't have again outside of this restaurant. The wine selection is good, the white sangria was tasty and not too sweet. If you want to relax with a friend or friends, have some wine, and share some plates, I don't know that you can find a better...
Read moreThis is the first time I have ever left a review on google but this experience made me change my ways! The food was good and had nice seasoning and taste to it, which I felt was hard to find in Portugal overall.
But the food is not the whole story! The reason why I give this wonderful place 5 stars is because of the full restaurant experience. The restaurant owners took care of us and made us feel at home. It felt like I was at my uncle and aunts place.
If you are expecting a Michelin quality food and service I would not recommend you to go. If you want to feel loved and have a GOOD time with your friends/family you should definitely go.
Thank you Grao Duro! Me and my 3 swedish friends will never forget you guys. And thank you for letting me watch the Porto game on the TV, even though you were a Porto fan yourself 😉 (had a...
