We stopped in here on a whim, as parking was easier and it was closer than our usual breakfast spot. The interior is charming, the service was quick, and the flat white was excellent. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended.
I ordered the salmon Benedict, which was served on an overly sweet brioche that clashed with the salty salmon. It came with a side of potatoes, which, like everything else, arrived cold. My wife ordered the American pancakes, but they were room temperature and paired with thin, rubbery bacon.
The main issue is that nothing seemed freshly prepared. The food felt premade and quickly assembled rather than cooked to order. Our entire meal arrived in under five minutes, despite the restaurant being busy — which only reinforced the impression that dishes weren’t made fresh. When we shared our feedback, we were told everything is cooked to order, which simply didn’t match our experience.
It’s disappointing, especially when so many glowing reviews seem to come from accounts with just one or two posts. We would gladly wait a bit longer for food that’s hot and fresh, but sadly, this wasn’t...
Read moreI love a good breakfast, and Breakfast Lovers Chiado did not disappoint. They have several locations, but we chose this one for its picture-perfect views of Tram 28 passing by the front door every few minutes. You can make reservations in advance, but we were early birds and had no issues getting a table.
The staff is attentive and made sure we were well taken care of the entire time. Their menu is accessed via QR code (you’ll need to log into their Wi-Fi, as service can be spotty), and there’s a wide selection of hot and cold drinks, all freshly prepared behind the bar.
The food is made to order and hit the spot before a day full of walking (or should I say climbing!). I ordered the Earth Sea Sky toast—wow. It truly made my morning sparkle. The combination of flavors and textures was incredible, and the avocado portion was shockingly generous (in the best way).
I would definitely recommend Breakfast Lovers Chiado to anyone visiting Lisbon—it’s a perfect way to...
Read moreWe ordered the french toast and octopus benedict. It took more than 30 mins to be served, which is bit slow comparing to other restaurants we’ve been in Lisbon so far, but food was good. The service on the other hand is questionable. I was given a discount they offered me upon booking confirmation. We reminded the staff when we were about to pay, he then said in that case they would prefer cash payment, which is weird because the table next us just paid with card 2 mins ago without being asked to pay in cash . I said it’s our last day and we’re out of cash so we can only do card payment. We only realised after we paid and calculated that the staff automatically rounded up our €21.60 bill to €22? Even though it’s a small difference, it was absurd to us as we never experienced stores rounding up the amount. It’s such a shame as I’ve seen many posts hyping up this place and was...
