I loved this hotel and had an absolutely amazing stay. That said, this hotel is not going to be for everyone. We booked a river view room through the hotel and were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a suite. The suite was fantastic with a very comfortable oversized king size bed, a jacuzzi tub, plenty of seating areas, retractable shades for the windows and skylights, and a private roof deck. The room was well decorated with eight or nine wallpaper patterns (they were all in the same color scheme so it wasn’t overwhelming) and small touches like a tureen. There was a small mini-bar/fridge, coffee station, and what I thought was a comically small safe, but is slightly bigger than it appears. Just big enough for an iPad when at an angle. On my rankings of hotel rooms, this is probably one of my favorites. My only real complaint about the room is that the shades on the skylights are starting to get worn and let in more light than I would like. Outside the room, the hotel was impeccably clean and they offered an afternoon treat. I found the hotel staff to be generally pleasant and helpful with questions. The staff at the attached restaurant were also incredibly helpful. Now for why it is not for everyone. The hotel is in a nightlife area and above a club. We were there Wednesday through Sunday and it was the same party/club atmosphere every night. I am a night owl and so none of this bothered me, however, we were on the fifth floor and when we went to bed well after 3 AM we could still somewhat hear the bass from the club. Not enough to bother our sleep but I could tell it was there. But, if I could hear it from the 5th floor, I am sure it is much louder downstairs. The location is great and if you are a night person and/or like the bar/club lifestyle, I would highly recommend this hotel. It is quiet in the morning and very easy to sleep in late. If you are a light sleeper or looking for a place where you can go to bed at 10 PM, you may want to go elsewhere or at least book a room on the top floor. Do your research, know what you are getting into, and don’t berate the hotel staff like I saw...
Read moreAfter a ton of research, I ended up going with Lx Boutique Hotel, which ended up being a solid stay for my first time in Lisbon!
Pros: +Check-in was super smooth / friendly. The elevator was never overly crowded or took too long to get to. +There was nata and port wine available every afternoon in the lobby. Loved it. +I personally love the design of the room. Loved the art style and the design. The restroom in particular was cool / super modern and had a nice contrast against the more classic style of the hotel. The bed too was comfy and all the amenities were there from locks to hangers. Yes, water is like 2.5 euros but for the huge bottle, that's not bad at all to me. +I personally love where this is located at. It's a quick walk to the Tagus and a lot of the coastal sights, restaurants and not too far from other metros. Also easy to hail a taxi. Also, if you like to party/go to Pink Street, its so close and easy to get to.
Pro/Con: +/- Noise-wise, I was placed in a room on the 2nd floor near the alleyway. I heard a tiny bit of noise from the busy Pink Street area below, so it wasn't that bad. Would just check in with the lobby to see if you can be placed higher if you think the noise is going to be an issue. Also, if you're not going to be going to Pink Street at all, you may run into both drunken party patrons or the 'drug dealers' accidentally as you try to get elsewhere. Wasn't a big deal and can just ignore them, but just as a FYI. +/- The rooms have a slightly weird card system in which you have to keep your card near the key reader in order to open. The trick (as someone in the lobby taught me) was just to press up the higher part of the card against the reader and hold it there.
Cons: -There was only one plug that I could find in the room, so if you need a few items that need charging, you will just have to make sure to change things out. -Super small desk. So if you need to work or want to read/write at a desk, it'll be a bit tough.
I would do it again for sure! Not for everyone but think it is a good...
Read moreThis place is all about location! It's a cute boutique hotel as well, but the most noticeable feature is its location right at the base of R. do Alecrim. You couldn't be more central if you try. So close to transit, cafes, and Pink Street. And all the bars and restaurants we wanted to go to this time.
Despite that, it actually isn't that loud. They provide earplugs just in case as well! Occasionally cars will honk, but considering how crowded it gets on the weekends, we managed to sleep soundly thru it all, without ear plugs. Note: I was not on the side facing Pink Street.
The view from our floor was quite good considering how central it is.
The rooms are pretty tiny, which is somewhat expected for an old European hotel but I can't imagine spending more than €100 for a room this size. The bed is comfortable enough. There is a tiny fridge minibar if you choose and it's full of snacks and drinks.
Very odd choice to have a glass-walled bathroom so the person in bed can watch you on the toilet/shower... but at least there are blinds.
Room doesn't include a kettle, but they can provide one. I don't remember there being a coffee maker either, but there is one in the lobby for free. No microwave.
Decor is okay, but sparse. Unfortunately, the TV does not allow for plugging in your own streaming stick which is a huge downside for me. Wi-fi is decent. Corridors seem very dark.
No free breakfast, and if you want breakfast it's unfathomably priced considering what you can get 5 minutes away at any cafe or snackbar.
Loved having 24-7 reception. I have missed the peace of mind this gives you, and really appreciate that this boutique hotel does this. Some I've stayed in lately have stopped having it 24-7, or at all. The gentlemen working were all really attentive and nice.
I would stay here again for sure if it's for a few days, but only in low...
