We recently had the pleasure of dining at meson andaluz and were absolutely blown away by the exceptional experience it provided. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were greeted with an inviting and vibrant atmosphere that set the stage for a memorable evening.
The tapas selection was nothing short of exquisite, offering a delightful array of flavors and innovative combinations that left us craving more. Each dish was a masterpiece in its own right, showcasing the culinary expertise and creativity of the kitchen team. The attention to detail and the use of high-quality ingredients truly reflected a commitment to excellence.
What elevated our evening to an extraordinary level was the wine selection curated by our server, Fabian. His knowledge and passion for wine shone through as he expertly guided us through an impressive array of options, helping us discover the perfect pairings for our tapas selections. The suggested wines complemented the flavors and enhanced our overall dining experience, leaving a lasting impression on our palates.

As we prepare to return to the US, we are already looking forward to sharing our remarkable experience at meson andaluz with our American friends. We are confident that they, too, will be captivated by the culinary artistry, the unparalleled wine selection, and the genuine hospitality that define this remarkable establishment.

Read moreWe tried this restaurant because of the reviews. As soon as we were sat at our patio table, our server Ana made sure to let me know I can’t move my chair an inch left or right from the initial position it was in. It made me feel constricted, I like to get comfortable when I wine and dine, instead she made me feel like I was in kindergarten and she was my teacher. It felt rude and it definitely set the tone for the rest of the night. No menu suggestions were provided. Fortunately I dined at enough restaurant and as a hospitality professional myself I ordered some of the best dishes on the menu. The octopus, to die for. Goat cheese croquettes were very tasty! And not only they were nice and spicy, but the patatas bravas had a mousse on top I absolutely loved. The white wine that I ordered was a perfect match too. We got 5 different tapas and overall the food was very good. Every other server / food runner that came to the table was very friendly and despite the fact that our check was brought 15 minutes before they close, Sara, the girl who brought it was very nice about it. Ana had a bad attitude from the start, for no reason and shouldn’t work in the hospitality industry if she doesn’t like it. Note that when I asked her how was her night, she said not so good, and she didn’t bother mentioning the owner makes money, but she does not. Those are details I don’t need to know as a customer.
I rarely leave a bad review but this was asked for. Ana, do yourself a favor and take some time...

Review: Mesón Andaluz – A Delicious Surprise in Lisbon
We popped into Mesón Andaluz quite impromptu on a very hot afternoon while walking up the hill in search of something a little different for lunch. Spotting this Andalusian restaurant felt like the perfect choice – and it absolutely was.
Though the restaurant was fairly busy, we only had a short wait before being seated by the window, where we could enjoy a bit of breeze and a lovely view. From start to finish, the meal was absolutely fantastic.
We began with the Spanish prawns in butter with bread simple, fresh, and full of flavour. We also had some perfectly cooked scallops, and for mains, we shared a mushroom risotto with asparagus and a pork and bean stew. Every single dish was top class beautifully presented, full of rich, balanced flavours, and clearly made with care. Honestly, I couldn’t fault a single bite.
Service was generally good, though one young waiter (black shirt, moustache) did come across as a bit grumpy. That said, the older lady waitress more than made up for it she was absolutely fantastic, managing everything with warmth, efficiency, and a smile. A big shout-out to her well done!
All in all, this was a wonderful, high-quality lunch in a cozy spot with character. Highly recommended especially if you’re in the area and looking for something just a little different...
