My friend and I visited this restaurant for lunch. Unfortunately, after consuming the food served, we suffered from SEVERE FOOD POISONING, manifested by symptoms such as nausea and vomiting which began within a few hours of the meal.
We consume falafel, babaganoush, Humus and the poisoning is related to one or more of these items.
Due to the severity of the food poisoning, we sought medical assistance and had to undergo treatment to recover. This experience was extremely unpleasant and upsetting, and we are deeply disappointed in your establishment's standards of hygiene and food safety.
At the same day of the intoxication we warn the owner that something was not fresh and that we both were vomiting, so you could check the kitchen. The atitude of the owner was bad since the beginning, never worried or appologying for what happened. When two days after i asked for the refund, he said that this was a scheme, and that i needed to show him a medical statement, that i’ve sent him. Since then, he didnt reply me more.
Today I went to the restaurant to write in the complaint book, he didnt give me. I had to call the police, who went there and forced him to give me.
The attitude of the owner is agressive, rude and uncontrolled. The hygiene of the space is really bad. The only thing good are the Girls working there, that are really nice.
We hope that immediate action will be taken to investigate and correct the conditions that led to this occurrence. In addition, we require a full refund for the cost of the meal and associated medical costs.
We call for an immediate response and appropriate corrective actions to prevent other customers from suffering similar experiences...
Read moreVisited Yallah for the first time last week and was utterly disappointed. The food was below average for Middle Eastern in Lisbon with much higher prices. A lunch time meal for 4 people with 2 dips, pita, falafel, 3 main meals between us, one dessert, water and one bottle of wine we paid €150. Even though this is in a trendy area I’d never expect to pay so much for such below average quality food.
On top of that, the way the owner treats his staff is unbearable. As a local to Lisbon for over 5 years, I’ve never seen someone treat their staff so badly. Usually service in Lisbon is exceptional. The waitress was charming and kind while still managing the whole restaurant by herself but being belittled and yelled at by the owner. It was truly terrible to watch.
Now that I scroll through these reviews and read the owners callous responses to the other low star reviews here, I realise he’s terrible to his customers too! I bet he will write something equally awful here. Shame on you. Your behaviour should be reported.
To those that plan to visit I say stay away. This place is awful. I cannot believe it survived covid and certainly hope that the landlord won’t renew their lease again. To the waitress - you deserve so much better and I hope you can find another job soon to escape that...
Read moreWhat an unwelcoming overpriced place! :/ Walked in here mid afternoon for a beer with a friend. We were left to wait because we said we were in just for a drink, but it was only 1 table occupied anyway as it was not regular meal times. After checking with someone in the kitchen and getting back to us, the waitress "allowed" us to seat, but at this point it already felt like they were doing us a favor. Not cool. The menu is ridiculously overpriced. Ordered a craft beer that cost about double as it would anywhere else. While sipping the beer I could see staff in the kitchen not only not wearing masks, but at some point vigorously licking a serving spoon. I'm positive that spoon didn't make it back to the pot, but this is not something customers need to be seeing while sitting at the restaurant. But the worst came at the end, when the waitress added 5% service charge automatically to our bill - not only tip was not deserved after such a straight face and rude vibe, this is actually ILLEGAL here in Portugal. Maybe tourists fall for this thinking 5% is not that much, but locals know this is no good. This is exactly the kind of place that makes Lisbon's restaurant scene stink. A tourist trap that sells expensive food but labels it as "genuine street food"...
