O Mattos — Restaurant in Lisbon

Check the bill and ask the prices!! Good tasty food and good selection of wines. Especially the typical starters and the black pork dishes with spinach are very tasteful. But we were so disappointed when we checked the bill afterwards. They added the starters we didn't eat (We said clearly we didn't want these specific starters and they were taken away from the table) They've added an extra basket of bread which we didn't order or get and they gave 2 asked brandies but for €15 each, without a small notification they were special and have this price? (I'm quite sure in another restaurant with the same standards we'd have paid less than €5 for this brandy) So we paid for +/- €40 too much. They have such a nice restaurant, sadly they use these techniques. So again: have lunch or dinner, but watch the bill...

Very delicious food. The starters has really high quality. The lamp chop is very soft and juicy, the Octopus has great garlic flavor and really fresh. The waitress is friendly and speak good English and a little bit Chinese, which was really impressive for us. The only thing which was not perfect is the price. We had a pleasant evening with good food, wine and nice atmosphere at «o mattos» but there were two things we did not like: at the beginning the waitress gave us few dishes that we did not ask for, we felt forced to buy something we didnt want to. Second thing we did not appteciate was that we only got meat and chips for the main course, there was no salad or anything else added in the meal.
