This is definitely the best Portuguese restaurant in the Belem neighborhood. The waiters are friendly, helpful and super speedy in their work. We were about to leave after looking through the menu because there weren’t any vegetarian options for us. When we told the waiter, he said the chef can do a stir fried vegetables w potatoes and rice dish and it turns out very tasty! The vegetables soup is also very yummy. And the price is very reasonable! Will definitely be back to try others. We returned for lunch at 1.30 pm and there was a long queue outside. We waited for 30 mins before we get a seat inside. It’s buzzing w customers and service going on and everyone r enjoying their food and drinks. We ordered the eel it’s so plump and fresh, it’s outstanding! We didn’t need any sauce to go with it - just wanted to savor the freshness of the meat. It’s was by accident that we got this because the waiter told us that mackerel was sold out. He recommended “fried egg and rice”. We were confused but since he’s very busy and the restaurant is packed, we said ok. And what a surprise that it’s truly an amazing dish!! We can’t wait to b back again! Perhaps for early dinner to avoid the crowd. By the time we left at 2.30 pm, there is still a line of people waiting to be seated in the super cold weather outside! They must love their food to be standing in the cold out!! That’s testimonial of their food. The price is truly reasonable.

We stumbled on this restaurant by accident as we were looking for authentic Portuguese's restaurants around us. When we saw the restaurant we instantly knew this was the place. The warm welcoming feel made it feel like this is place we want to be. We were promptly greeted and seated immediately. The daily menu is fresh seafood so we ordered from there. We got the clams and the grilled mackerel and at the hosts recommendation, the scabbardfish (which is the best fish we had by far) and washed it down with 2 green wines. For dessert we had Creme Brule since the sawdust pudding was finished ☹️ Flavors were on point, good portions and great atmosphere.. No crazy loud music just authentic people enjoying each other. Also our waiters sense of humor and welcoming demeanor made us feel at home! Best Portuguese food we have had by far. We came as strangers, invited in as guests and felt like family when we left. Come early though by 9pm it started to fill up quickly. P.S They do play the game on the tv!

Was one of the highest reviewed places so my family and I decided to try it out for local cuisine. We arrived around 1:20 in the afternoon. Ordered sausage, garlic shrimp, steak and eggs and a fish. Sausage and shrimp were way overcooked. Kids usually chow down sausages but with this... They couldn't even chew it. Shrimps flavor was ok if it was edible. Again, way overcooked. Then we sat and waited until 2:40 before we got tired. We saw other tables who arrived later and got their food. When I flagged the waiter down for the check and cancel the food, he ran to the back and asked for our food denying us the food cancelation. When I told him I didn't want anything else, he kept saying, 1 minute 1 minute. It was obvious he knew that we hadn't gotten our food for a long time. Seems the restaurant is local for ONLY LOCAL PEOPLE. If you're a tourist stay clear, seems it is not first come first serve. Seems it is portuguese first serve. They don't care about serving you over their local people.

I am not a customer of the restaurant, so I don’t know how to give the star. We went there yesterday. We saw 3 groups in front of us, so we lined up after them. I didn’t pay attention to the time, but my partner told me that we had been there for almost 40min. No one actually paid attention to us or even ask how many people we are during the whole process. I understand they are very busy. Still it would be good if you can let people know how long you are going to wait and at least not ignoring people and allow them to stand outside your restaurant. It just happened there was a group of four who arrived after us. And there was a table (made up of two tables of two), they serve that group first, skipping the the two people table groups in front of them (which could have been lined up longer then us). We heard others also talking about how unfair it is. And finally we sat down (actually we just sat down at an empty table on our own, still no one pay attention to us, we were the front group). I tried to get someone’s attention at least to get the table made and order food, but failed again. Finally we left as we found that people sat down many still haven’t ordered food yet. I write the review just because I know your food may be very good, but still a dining experience is more than just the taste of food. I understand your restaurant is very popular, but letting your customer or potential customers to know that they are being attended is very important. Maybe leaving customers’ names to you on a waiting list, would be a better system. Or at least you have someone attend to them so that they know whether they want to wait that long or not. If you want to go to this restaurant, maybe visit at a time when they are...

Honestly - I hadn't planned to come here. I was looking for O Frade but being dispraxic, turned right instead of left (🤦😳) but a line of people were hustling in ahead of me and I followed them out of FOMO.

But the service was so welcoming and friendly that even after sitting down and realising I was in the wrong place, I stayed. Seating is either at a bar, or at long tables, shared where individuals, couples and groups are squeezed in together - in a good way.

Having planned an entirely different meal I panicked when the waiter came for my order and just asked him to recommend. He ordered the pork with clams and fried potatoes, which I might not have chosen myself, but which was excellent.

The pork was tender. The clams and shrimp, juicy and fresh. The chips - I don't like chips. But these were superb. Hot, crispy, certainly triple cooked. Really great chips. The white wine by the glass was a lovely accompaniment.

With this much fried food I didn't dare order a dessert too, though pretty much everyone else on the table did.

A cheap and cheerful meal, served expertly and with charm by a wonderfully friendly and...
