Perfect for lunch in Lisbon, Rui Dos Pregos has a true community feel to it and as soon as you enter you realise that you have stumbled into a special little place. You are most likely to spend the full morning in Belem and if you are looking for a wonderful lunch experience to round off your trip then I found a great local spot for you, it's called Rui Dos Pregos. This restaurant has a true community feel to it and as soon as you enter you realise that you have stumbled into a special little place.
The seating at Rui Dos Pregos is arranged in a communal bench style, with paper table cloths and shared condiments, just like you'd expect in your local hall or sports club. The staff are super friendly and don't be afraid to ask the person next to you for their advice on the menu, they are most likely to be frequent diners in this local establishment.
Rui Dos Presgos specialises in fresh seafood but also has local sausage and pork dishes. There are plates of seafood displayed in a chilled cabinet and if you prefer, you can chose you options directly from here. The food is simply great, the atmosphere is as local as you can get and the prices are incredibly reasonable for great food.
If you have room for more and it's a hot day, then pop in next door for some refreshing homemade ice cream, they're probably the largest scoops I've ever seen and again very reasonably priced.
Getting there: Use your Tram stop as your starting landmark, it's close to Pasteis de Belem (I'll blog that later). Walk back in the direction of Lisbon staying on your left had side of the street passing by Pasteis de Belem and keep walking for about 5 minutes and...
Read moreThis is a cheap and cheerful restaurant in a nice location However I would avoid if you eat out to enjoy yourself and receive good service Firstly we did not receive any cutlery and the food went cold before we were provided with the same Secondly we thought menu of the day included dessert but apparently not despite it saying so on the menu so we ordered hot drinks which then did not arrive for some 20 mins. Thirdly we asked for the bill as we had a train to catch and we advised we had been waiting for drinks. Over ten minutes later we went to pay at the bar ourselves. We told them our table number and the staff member asked our waiter what we had ordered and then he proceeded to ask us After some confusion we were then told to pay a certain sum And when we asked to look at the receipt it was met with an attitude Given the above experience we did not tip and on exiting a sarcastic thank you was shouted our way I would not go back It seems locals are treated with far more respect and proper service All in all a bad experience and food may be cheap but is not of a...
Read moreOverall, I had a little bit negative experience. However, I will provide detailed feedback. I must note that I am giving three stars because I visited on Easter, which I consider a challenging occasion, hence the extra star.Regarding service, the table dispatching was relatively quick overall. Unfortunately, the "Grilled Octopus with Olive Oil" was unavailable, so I settled for another seafood and cheese dish. When inquiring about it, the waiter seemed uncomfortable speaking English, leading to ineffective communication and a lack of interest in guiding me towards an alternative dish. Additionally, I am willing to spend if the service matches the price.Unfortunately, the appetizer was overpriced at 11 euros for a meager portion. However, the Coldfish with potatoes and cheese was enjoyable. The coffee was good, but it remains a minor compliment. Despite it being Easter, the service was precise and error-free. However, I am perplexed by the communication with the customer. Nonetheless, I am giving one star for the effort.
