Oh Lálá Café&Brunch — Restaurant in Lisbon

We had breakfast/brunch here two mornings in a row during our 5-day visit to Lisbon. It was the perfect spot for a perfect slow morning with a very nice decor, great playlist, delicious food that came out beautifully presented, very tasty coffee lattes, and an opportunity to people watch (we were entertained by a few tourists walking around with their phones in their hand in place of a modern-day compass trying to navigate the small hilly streets of Alfama; sometimes seeing the same people going this way and a few minutes later back the other). But most of all, we loved our waiter. He was in equal parts attentive yet nonintrusive; responsive yet calm and relaxed making us feel at ease and well-taken care of. We noticed both mornings that upon paying, he handed the money to another staff who managed the outstanding change. The first morning we left a cash tip intended for the waiter on the table and saw it collected by this other person (a maitre'd, if you will) as we were leaving. REAL REVIEW: Nice outdoor setting under shade. Food was a bit overpriced for what it was, I ordered a salmon bagel (€14) and it was hardly filled. I asked the waiter beforehand how many eggs it had and he said 2. The bagel he brought out only had 1 and when questioned he said they “combined the egg” (there was one yolk).

Afterwards when paying I asked to pay with card and he said cash only. Made me go to the atm and get cash out for a fee, only to find out they do accept VISA and Mastercard. Not sure if other reviews here have been bought (they are unverified) however I would avoid this place if coming to Lisbon again. Beautiful cafe, that offered tables also outside. The atmosphere is great and the people are extremely kind! We had Eggs Benedict and they were phenomenal! Ordered more bread to really soak up all the last bits of sauce. Also the pastries looked amazing so we got a cinnamon rolls to share and two more for to go. Enjoyed it here so much!
