Tiny, Expensive, Small Portions and No ATM

Strengths: -Decoration and table service. -The confection of the meat

Weaknesses: -Too expensive, for 4 people, I paid close to 90 euros. For the same price, I find it much better, and nearby.

-I've never seen a place to practice this type of prices, and not have an ATM, forcing customers to go to the nearest place to withdraw money, in the end of the meal.

-Low quantity, very small portions, after an hour you are hungry again.

-Entries are served without asking. When you go to see the price, you get an unpleasant surprise.

-Salty food and unconventional choices in flavors. In some dishes it plays well in others it is only reasonable.

-Tight space, without good chairs, normal if it were a more homely tavern, which is not the case, given the high prices and food below home-meal expectations.

-It claims to be "Saloio", but from the region it has little or nothing. These are normal Portuguese dishes just trying to look gourmet.

Summary: -When they charge excessively, they don't earn it again in the future. Knowing in the area pretty well, I know where I can go and be the best served.

-Being with visitors from abroad, I ended up not asking for the complaints book, so as not to spoil the night. Anyway, I advise people to choose the best alternatives that exist...

This restaurant is quality wise a hidden gem in Lissabon. The food is not only excellent it also exceeded my expectations. It was the best octopus I have ever tried and the tacos were extremely delicious. The only downside was the service. You did not get an overview of what is included and what you have to pay for (of course you had to pay for every little thing, which is not bad but I like to now beforehand) . We got offered while eating some eggplants, the bread and olives at the beginning cost extra and got served a random wine. We constantly had to ask for the prices and it was tried a lot of times to sell us more and more things, just because we are tourists. Besides that I would still recommend visiting this delicious restaurant

Update: Been here now 2 more times and sadly, the quality dropped significantly. I cannot recommend this place anymore which is really sad, because I really hoped to get some...

Awful experience.

Petisco Saloio is a 'tasca' (can't come up with an accurate translation for that ) but costs almost as much as a fine dining restaurant.

Selling main dishes "meant to share" that come in hors d'oeuvre serving sizes (see below) but charged like they're meant to fill an adult, Petisco Saloio gets off selling an image of being a cheap, traditional restaurant but then overcharging costumers with ridiculous prices for the ammount of food served. If it was a prestigious restaurant i would get it, but definitely not for a sidestreet, tavern like restaurant like this.

I payed 42€ for the food below and i couldn't be more dissapointed.

Not mentioning the lack of attention they pay to the costumers (if you're by yourself, forget about it), putting you in charge of calling them and taking their sweet time to come to you.

Amyway, a very bad experience and 40 euros down the drain.

Definitely...

I have been meaning to visit this place for some time, but it's one of those spots where you really need a reservation to avoid disappointment. The food was authentic & wholesome, with the meats and octopus being particularly tender. We found the prices above average, although, I appreciated the well-thought-out dishes and presentation. Also, the service was somewhat hectic, and while consistently friendly, I noticed that the staff always appeared to be under pressure for time. Incidentally, the desserts were sublime, and coupled with a well chosen wine selection I don't think you can go wrong with this place! They offer indoor and outdoor seating, and they only accept cash.

Small restaurant with local vibe, short menu with local specialities to choose from. Super friendly staff. Occupied mostly by locals which gave our visit additional very local experience. Food was very good, some tastes were new to us (so hard to judge), anyways definitely worth visiting if you want to feel like you were from here :) Note-1: It was not possible to pay by card during my visit, still it was clearly communicated - a big note was hanging there on the wall. Note-2: they will most probably add to your bill anything aditional what they will serve you as starters - the small ones that you even do not ask for like bread and butter.
