Very creative menu, fun environment, great wines. I've been a long-term fan of Sea Me so I was excited to try this new version. The chef created an interesting "dialogue" between popular old-school Portuguese dishes and their new fish and seafood-only counterparts. It's a pescatarian heaven. My friend and I shared a lot of different dishes and that's definitely the way to go. (If you do, ask the servers to help you start with the lighter flavors and then work up to the more intense tasting fish.) We paired everything with the house white which was surprisingly really good! (I didn't care for the house sparkling, even though it's "brut" it was on the sweeter side for me. They do have champagne which was perfect. I enjoyed everything but the dessert. After such light and delicate seafood dishes, heavy and dense chocolate mousse felt off. I'd suggest a fluffy lemon mousse instead. (On a design and user-experience note, I'd recommend bar-height chairs. The current ones are considered "counter-height" which can be a problem for some." Overall, I give it 5 stars because the chef's creativity and food quality are top notch. I look forward...
Read moreWe came to this restaurant at the recommendation of our hotel reception, and we were well-advised.
We got a seat at the bar, and the hostess/waitress recommended a litany of options from the menu. Being as it were that we had not eaten all day, we asked her to give us all of her favorites.
Over the next hour, we were treated to several wonderful dishes. The house wine was excellent, as were the sardine nigiri (so much so that we ordered a second serving). The octopus hot dog was unique, and the fried fish was delicious, presented nicely, and paired with an excellent, semi-spicy oil to dip it in.
This is the sister restaurant of the main establishment, and they also have an outpost at Time Out Market. If you can get to any of these, or all of these, you are unlikely to be disappointed.
The decor is heavy on the maritime theme, which is totally fine. If I had one recommendation, it would be that the rest of the staff put as much of a foot forward as their hostess, as they were not as attentive. The hostess is fantastic, though!
We ordered quite a lot, but a group of 2-4 would certainly be satisfied spending about...
Read moreWe had a reservation for 8:00 PM. No seats were being held for us. We were told we might be seated by 8:20 so we decided to wait. I noticed two seats open at the bar at about 8:20 and asked if we could have those. I was told, “No, we are holding those seats, and the next three, for a party of five, but there are two seats at the end of the bar about to come open.” The party of five had a reservation for 8:30 and were seated promptly. At 8:50 we still had no seats offered. The folks at the end of the bar were paying their check, but still had half full wine glasses, so they weren’t going anywhere soon. We left and had a mediocre meal at our hotel. Just no respect given to the fact that we had made a...
