TLDR: be careful with SCAMMY waiters. The wine and sangria were good. The steak was chewy and a poor quality cut, and the clams were dry even with a half decent lemon butter sauce. Unfortunately the service was terrible. I attempted to order two different dishes, but the kitchen was sold out of both of the first two, which for a 9:30pm seating in Portugal is a serious miss. The chewy steak came with undercooked rice, and frozen fries - not acceptable for a dish costing €16. There was a miscommunication between the waiter and the kitchen which caused our food to be delayed. However, the worst part of the service by far was when it came time to pay. I explicitly requested that I be charged in Euros, and then I watched him click the button to charge me in USD after the fact, resulting in an unnecessary markup. I asked him to reverse the charge and re-do it in Euros, which he refused. He tried to (falsely) show me that on the receipt, the charge went through in Euros, ignoring that after the Euro price, the machine changed the final sale into dollars and added a 5% markup. He then insisted I watch him charge other people’s tabs in euros, embarrassing me in front of other guests and the friends I was with for dinner. This was a Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) scam and I would recommend avoiding...
Read moreIn terms of food - the worst restaurant I’ve been in Portugal. First of all, they had only one red wine by glass and it was extremely low quality. They know it themselves, so they poor it in a bowl instead of glass and also very cooled like white wine, so that you have no chance to feel repugnant aromas and tannins. And they call themselves a wine bar! The lamb was really bad. Super salty, bitter and dry. They obviously put too much vinegar and salt. And this is despite Portuguese usually put less salt in their dishes. They ran out of octopus so they replaced it with cod fish, which was just average. But the garnish was same potatoes as in the previous dish. Their cheese selection was very poor, like from a supermarket. Desert was presented as a traditional Christmas pumpkin pastry. I didn’t feel any pumpkin in it, and I googled - Portuguese don’t put pumpkin in Christmas deserts.
I should admit, service was good. 3 people were asking me regularly if...
Read moreWe've planes one of the last night in Lisboa to send in this place listening to the live fado. We've paid 35 € per person for the Concerto and menu which was fixed and like We thought recomended by chef. The concert was amazing and mabe even worth this price, but the food was very, very bad. Main dish was served on the little plates it looked untasty, but unfortunately it was untasty. You can think every person has it's own taste. But if 50% of plates is returned with food it means something. I strongly don't recomend this place. And for the menagement- don't BLAME the service. They were doing everything to make us feel good. We know that is your foult. The concept of this place is to take money and not to make the client happy. Portugal is femouse because of many things, but the first everybody remember is a food. Unfortunately this time We learnd that even here there are...
