Amazing location, next door to Sé Cathedral and Rossio Square and Parça do Comércio. We loved the location because you’re close to everything without being in the loud resto/bar district of Barro Alto.
Rooms are small yet cozy and is perfect for travelers. Floor is cement which is clean and the room is minimalist which is nice when you have luggage etc. Rooms are cleaned daily and the staff and service are amazing.
Breakfast is from 8-10am and has a lot of options. WiFi works well along with great AC (very necessary when spending your day in the sun walking everywhere).
Located next to a Fado restaurant so if you have a suite (with private bathroom) it might get louder but was never a problem for us.
In the main lobby area there are about 4-5 bedrooms that share the bathrooms/showers. We stayed in a suite with private bathroom and kitchenette which was situated next door and there’s about 4-5 rooms like that.
For someone who’s never stayed in a place other than a hotel we loved this and actually preferred it to staying in a generic hotel.
As I said, staff was amazing and was super helpful with recommendations of what to see and where to eat. They even brought us breakfast to our room for our last morning we were there because left early to catch our train.
We’d definitely stay here again if we come back and will be recommending it to all of our...
Read moreAbsolutely horrendous I dont know why people have written good reviews and are satisfied when in reality this place blows. If you plan on having a good time in Lisbon do not stay here. The rooms are beyond basic with no charging adapters. To charge my phone I had to dig underneath the bed and unplug the lamp. Forget charging two devices at the same time. The walls and doors are so thin and close to each other, you can hear the other person talking and walking in the corridor or next room with a screeching sound. Moreover, you can also constantly hear the people upstairs walking. So you wont get any sleep. The place is located next to the tram rail and the entire day you can hear the tram zip by. The shared bathrooms are filthy and are not replenished with toilet paper. They are also very small with no wall hooks so you cant even hang clothes whilst you bathe. Furthermore, in the shower there is no hot water only warm water. There is no heating or cooling system so if its cold outside you'll freeze in the room and vice versa. Breakfast was also very sub par. I was so upset, i booked a room in a much better hotel the next day and left. They refused to refund my reservation for 2 nights but i still left so you can imagine how bad it was. A youth hostel would be much better than this for a cheaper price. I myself moved to the figueira boutique hotel which...
Read moreStart with the check-in: they only have one receptionist on duty, they often are doing other things too, too much multitasking. You can't just walk into the lobby either, you have to ring from outside. And wait. In the blasting sun, if you're after 11am.
Our room wasn't ready until after 45 minutes after the check-in hour. That might also be due to staffing issues. The receptionist had to go help the housekeeper and couldn't let in any more guests. Interesting to see it happen from inside. They might have also been running around due to some fresh water damage that day.
Now the room was alright. Odd layout, it no stars lost there. BUT. We settled, we were just chilling on the bed, not quite dressed, and the room door opens. They didn't go all the way in there, I quickly get dressed, run out to check what THE HELL could be so urgent. Turns out the previous guest forgot something and the receptionist just let him in and even let him open our door without knocking!!! Unbelievable.
I was gonna leave 2* for the staff politeness, but we couldn't return the key on check-out and no one was answering the door again. We couldn't miss our flight and ended up just leaving the key on the bed. That took off the final star. Never coming back, even...
