UPDATE! After you left me a comment to contact you directly, I did so on the 8th of October. I have also followed up. No reply back……it is now the 21st of November. This is such such bad service and it seems you only wrote what you wrote to look good for future customers?

We had our pre wedding day planned here on Friday night and organized everything with the manager beforehand in person a few months before. We were shown in person that we would have the indoor space exclusively for our party for two hours, no problems to organize trivia and they were going to organize a microphone. The exclusivity of the place was also written to me in writing in an email.
On the night the following happened: Random people kept showing up and we had to tell them to leave. Some did not want to go cause they ordered food and the bar staff did not really help this situation. When speaking to the bar staff they told me only half the indoor space was exclusive. When I asked how they intend to separate the indoor space they were going to do it with bar chairs making a line in the middle... there was no sign saying it was exclusive and our wedding photographer had to stop randoms from entering the space.. bless her. There was no organized microphone or plug in for our trivia playlist, we ended up sorting it with an iPad. The bar staff kept telling me the boss was going to come to sort it out. After 45 minutes I had to call him myself and he was no where on his way.. not until I spoke to him on the phone they finally kicked other people out however our photographer had to keep acting as a door woman. The trivia we had planned had to be done without proper set up, we made it work cause of our guests being creative.
It is disappointing this could happen, even after we saw the manager in person a few months before and he reassured us everything was under control. The bar staff did not seem to be briefed at all what the plan was and were not proactive in helping resolve the situation. A formerly great place became a absolute tourist trap. We ordered three cocktails- a pisco sour (9€) and two margaritas (11€ each). However, when the bill came, it was 34,10€, as a "gratification" had been included. When we questioned this new rule the bartender told us that it was an obligatory extra payment, which was stipulated on the menu. We checked the menu, and it was not. The bartender told us we had to pay the full amount or we couldn't have our drinks- despite the fact that on the receipt, it says that this "gratification was optional". Furthermore, the receipt stated the "gratification" was 5%, when we were charged an extra 10%. So basically nothing made sense, it was not written anywhere and this is not a usual thing in Portugal, as it is in some other countries. We later queried this again with another member of staff, she spoke to a member of management who claimed this was a "mistake" and returned the money. We witnessed this happening with multiple clients (typically foreigners who didn't speak Portuguese). Pay attention to your bill and question any extra charges!
