Restaurante O MAR'CO — Restaurant in Matosinhos

The food was great and at a good price but the service could be improved, the servers were very pushy trying to upsell.

They brought some appetizers to the table after we told them we didn't want them.

I asked for some bread with cheese and was told they were out of cheese, so I asked for butter instead, they were out as well, so I asked for the bread only. Instead they brought a more expensive appetizer with different kinds of bread, olive oil and butter with herbs. I said I only wanted the bread and suddenly they found both the cheese and the butter, 2 portions of each even!

While waiting for our dish they brought us the wine menu and asked which wine bottle we wanted. We never said we wanted wine, and we didn't, and the wine menu didn't have non-alcoholic drinks.

We asked for a dish of skewered shrimp and octopus, the server said he needed one of the skewers shortly after bringing it to the table, so he took the food out of the skewer and walked away with it, which was both funny and a bit sad.

The bill at the end was correct, they weren't dishonest, so I'd still recommend it for the great food...

Staff very unfriendly. Told us they were closing the kitchen so we had to hurry to order and then continue to accept more clients. While ordering the rush made it a very stressful process and we were not even convinced with what we ordered. They continued to bring food (sides and dessert) we did not order and then charged us for them (even when we said we did not order this). Fish was ok but nothing special. Would...

Great place to have lunch! For the starter we had octopus in green sauce( olive oil, onion, vinegar and parsley) and sardines for the main course (6.5eur). Bread is delicious. Separately we took salad with peppers. White home whine is 8.5(mature). Portions are huge, we couldn’t finish them. They have a nice terrace for 5 tables.
