We had a hard time finding vegetarian food in this town, but this place had a decent number of items to choose from. We don’t drink coffee, however, and chose to have milkshakes for brunch. They were advertised as having fruit and greek yoghurt, which sounded great, but were absolutely not drinkable. When we asked what they were made from, they told us “yoghurt, melon and mint”. We decided to send them back. They were unsweetened, had chunks of cellulose from what we assume was some melon, and big pieces of mint. We asked for a single chai latte to share instead, and got a warm cup of milk with a bag of black tea and cinnamon in it. Also not good, not chai latte, but drinkable at least, I guess. After queueing a while to pay the bill, we were charged for everything, but asked to not pay for the milkshakes. Apparently, this was our fault for expecting what we consider a normal shake with berries or banana etc, and we should have asked what they made it from. Mind you, this took a lot of talking between the two waitresses in Portuguese without looking at us. Also, they had tried to make it up to us, they claimed. How? No clue. We were charged for the chai as well. In the end, they gave us a 2€ discount. The milkshakes were 9€ and the chai 2.60€. It’s a good thing this was out last breakfast in Ponta Delgada, but we would not recommend others to go.
Waiting times were awful, but it was a public holiday, so this may have been the...
Read moreI was happy to find a restaurant that had vegan and gluten free options. The first day we went was on 14 September. They were short staffed but the woman working the counter (wearing glasses) was incredibly sweet and attentive. We also were able to get our food within a reasonable time and it was decent. I loved the vegan milkshake.
This morning, 15 September, we went back to try and get coffee and smoothies to go. The person working the counter and main waitress, a woman with a long ponytail, did not even acknowledge our presence. We understand that there is not a big takeaway culture here but we were standing there for almost 10 minutes while she ran back and forth. We understand that customers who are seated have been waiting too, but, it would have been nice of her to have at least said "sorry I will be with you in just a few minutes." Something to at least acknowledge others presence. We ended up leaving because it wasn't worth to just keep standing there as if we were invisible. I think getting this staff member, who honestly came off as being a bit arrogant, to acknowledge customers and apologize for the wait would...
Read moreThe Bistro looks nice from the outside, thats why we went inside. after waiting 10minutes till a waitress came to pick up our order we had to wait another 15minutes till we get our drinks, 1bottle of water and one coca cola. another 20minutes(total 35mimutes waiting time) till we get the wraps that we ordered. the chicken wraps came with salad and not with sweet potato chips. after asking the waitress why there is salad and not what was ordered she responded that they dont have any at the moment. why dont you ask before if its ok to get salad...the meatballs wrap came with meatballs that were still red on the inside and barely touched the grill. after i asked to get some dressing for the salad they brought some oil with vinegar, but sadly the oil was empty. would totaly not recommend this place. slow and chaotic service long waiting time meat nit really cooked overall not a friendly atmosphere for...
