Book a table a couple of days in advance. We booked via phone 3 nights before. Were a bit worried about parking options in the city center, however it turns out it is easy to park at either Parking Avenida West Entry parking garage (3 min walk from the restaurant) or using the parking lots along the main street by the sea. Louvre is just 200 m up from the seafront in a nice old street reserved for pedestrians only. We did not know they also offer outdoor seating but as we noticed 3 small tables outside we requested to be seated there. Lovely! The service was very kind, and apart from waiting a couple of minutes for the first drinks also extremely quick and smooth! The food was superb. We had the sirloin with caramelized onion, pork belly with harrissa and youghurt sauce (perfectly spicy combination), and mind blowingly tasty cauliflower and hazelnut salad. The meat was prepared flawlessly. Safe to say, one of our best dinners in a 3 week azorean trip! A nice bottle of white Pico wine (Arinto), two cocktails (recommend the Pinata cocktail, pineapply, creamy, and rhumy), a chocolate cake and a lemon pie completed the experience. While I would prefer the desserts to be a bit colder, the juiciness of the cake and the intense taste and fluffiness of the pie do confirm their reputation of master dessert makers! Would gladly return, thank you Louvre people for a spectacular dinner!

Cool little spot we decided to try to get away from bad Hotel breakfast. Menu is eclectic and you should be able to find something for everyone. I had Eggs Benedict and my wife got a Croque Monsieur with a fried egg. (They don't offer a Croque Madam, so you can get the egg added) A very strange thing, I asked for a side of berries. Waitress returned to ask if I wanted the berries ON the Benedict? I, of course, said no, on the side. She informed me that additions had to be part of the dish and they could not give me berries on the side. So freakin weird. So, I got no berries. I was excited to see iced tea on the menu but a tiny bit disappointed when it came and was a Roobios blend. It was good and reminded me of a spiced Indian tea, but I was hoping for just regular tea. Still, I would get it again in a pinch. Place isn't perfect, hours of diffrrent service (breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner) are a bit all over the place and confusing, but food was solid and it's definitely worty your time!

6*out of 5!! We wanted to give a 1 star review just to get the BEST-bad-review response-EVER!! However, we cannot press 1 star if this place is just a banger! We had the well known foodgasm with the cevice and arroz malandrinho do mar! The latter was the BEST food we ate this year. Needless to say we came here four times (pun intended). Whoever says on here that service takes too long does not understand that best things always take time. Phenomenal local wine recommendations, as well as best and most fun service by Felipe and the team. He educated us in azorean oenology and with great passion introduced us to the best delicacies the house has to offer, and not only showed all-around great vibes, but his attention to details and mastering of his job were duly noted. Get this man a raise! We highly recommend Louvre Michalense as the best foodie experience in Ponta Delgada. And to our italian mastress of google-review-answer: ti adoriamo. Non cambiare mai. #degustibus. Grazie, obrigada, merci.

Where do I start? Creative kitchen, unique bar, great desserts. We got a couple seats at the bar. The wait staff all give the perfect amount of attention, neither too much nor too little. The main bartender put on a nice show when making drinks and made a couple new creations he let us try too! The kitchen and bar obviously work closely together and all the staff have a great dynamic. We tried the “open your mouth”, which was a cool mix of pickled tomato with aged foamed cheese and a shot of Bloody Mary as a chase. It was really creative and a unique mix of textures and taste. The food was really forward to. A really fancy mis en place, and well balanced plates. Each bite had a really full flavour. The tuna tarter with a sauce was amazing. The drink menu is pretty unique with lots of in-house creations. The desserts blew me away. The chocolate cake was stellar, and no one should leave this island without trying the cake.

Very nice discovery for this very busy restaurant from 7:00 p.m. (having a place without having reserved is called being lucky). The people who served us were very friendly and smiling (the head waiter, a little less pleasant) and took the trouble to explain to us what we were going to eat (a bit like French gourmet restaurants^^). Very original cocktails. We took an Azorean G&T (gin and tonic with candied lemon peel and seaweed (Konbu type seaweed). Dishes: we took the croquettes (neither greasy nor too salty), and the Smoked tuna mini toast (mini bolo de atum fumado); for main course: Linguine with triggerfish (linguine com peixe porco) and seafood rice (Arroz Malandrinho). Dessert: matcha tea cheesecake (not too sweet, very good). The atmosphere inside is very special, with a warm decoration. The street is pedestrianized and not very busy, so it is also a pleasure to taste something there.

The cutest place located in the city centre, at walking distance from “portas da cidade” (city gates) and the sea. It looks like an old grocery transformed in trendy restaurant and it’s possible to see local crafts in the windows inside. You’ll have the chance to sit outside or inside, but bear in mind that the Louvre is not very big, and it can get very busy around meal times. Staff is friendly and accommodating: we ate our lunch outside but then moved inside for coffee to get a feeling of the inside. Found the dishware quite interesting - enamel and pewter cups, for instance, for drinks. Atmosphere was relaxed. It isn’t a traditional Portuguese restaurant, which can appeal to tourists not used to our gastronomy, and can be a different and interesting choice for locals. Was there at lunchtime, it might be different in the evening. Need to go back and try again 🙂
