STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND GO TO RÉSVÉS STREET BAR — RIGHT NOW! I’m not exaggerating when I say this is hands-down the BEST cocktail bar I’ve ever been to — in my entire life. I had never even really been into cocktails until I came here... and now? I am changed. Enlightened. Converted. Whatever word you want to use — this place is divine. Let’s talk DRINKS:
🍸 The Prova — I don’t even know how to describe this masterpiece. It’s elegant, sophisticated, insanely well-balanced, and honestly deserves its own Netflix special. Probably the best drink I’ve ever had!
🥃 The Rescende — As someone who lives and breathes old fashioneds, let me tell you: THIS is what an old fashioned should taste like. Deep. Complex. Rich. Silky smooth. Worth every single Euro. I’d fly back just for this one drink alone. But it’s not just the drinks — it’s the vibe, the people, and the experience. The bartenders? Not just bartenders — mixologists, artists, cocktail whisperers. You can literally just tell them what you like — flavor, mood, spirit — and they’ll create something custom that blows your mind. They're also super friendly, incredibly fun, and somehow still give 5-star service even when the bar is packed. You walk in a guest and leave feeling like a regular. Honestly, Résvés deserves a Michelin star for cocktails — that’s how precise and perfect every drink is. The creativity, the presentation, the flavor profiles… it’s elite. It’s next-level. It’s THAT good. 💥 If you are in Ponta Delgada and NOT going to Résvés — you are failing at life.
I know that sounds dramatic, but I’m not playing. This place is THAT special.

Hands down, this is the best bar I've ever been to (in the world)!! My husband and I stumbled upon this spot & I almost left because it was really crowded. But the second I walked in the host was so kind and accommodating, I figured let me give it a shot. Squeezed our way to the bar and I ordered the Ve (loved it) and husband asked the bartender if she could whip up something for him, the drink she made was 10/10. End of the night I asked the bartender for her name, she said it was Mafalada and asked for our names..

The next day we were in town and decided to stop in because the drinks were so good. The minute we walked in, Mafalda says welcome back and remembered both our names! The bar was insanely busy the night before, I have no idea how she remembered. Not only is she extremely skilled and talented, but insanely kind and patient. We also made friends with the rest or the incredible staff (Ernesto & Hermano!!) and we visited the bar every night of our stay. On our last night we all took a shot together. This is truly one of the best spots to visit in Sao Miguel, it felt like we were part of their family. It was very hard to say goodbye to them and return home. Their hospitality is one of a kind. I can't wait to return to see everyone again 🫶 Highly recommend the Ve and Provas and anything really on the menu. Looking back I wish I tried one of everything, next time! :)

Résvés is not only my favorite places on sao Miguel island, but one of my favorite bars that I’ve been to. (And I live in New York City!)

Translated to mean just right, this hip cocktail bar encapsulates just that.

A clientele that mixes locals with travelers along with high quality cocktails in a dimly lit, minimalist atmosphere that promotes socializing amongst groups, this place truly is just right. My friends and I went here every single night of our trip. The owners Filippa and Hermano are two of the kindest people. With Hermano mixing drinks and Filippa walking around, the two make sure they meet and greet every person who comes in.

Aside from a 10/10 atmosphere, the drinks are amazing! I tried every cocktail (I recommend the pepparol and the drunken bee) and can confirm that they are all delicious!

Resves is a non-pretentious, unassuming, hip enclave filled with locals and tourists all alike bonding over the love of great cocktails. You are encouraged to go and talk to everyone around you while sipping on the highest grade cocktails, what could be wrong! Filippa and hermano truly have one of the highest dedications to hospitality that I’ve seen.

Résvés is a MUST VISIT for drinks if you find yourself on the island...
