We came upon this restaurant entirely by chance after the one we originally planned to go was full. I wish we got the name of the waitress that invited us to take a look at the menu when we passed by because without her we would have missed this gem of a restaurant! Really appreciated her patience in answering our numerous questions about the menu items to us even before we decided to take a table.

The food arrived surprisingly swiftly, the freshly squeezed orange juice is delicious, and the octopus is a must-try! It is soft, tender, and not at all chewy, and best of all, has no hint of the fishy flavour. The juicy Portuguese steak was also the best steak I've had in Europe so far!

Compliments to Milton and his team for a wonderful night! Even the staff that couldn't speak English did their best to serve us despite the language barrier.

Our party of 6 was seated instantly around 7.30pm, though the tables quickly filled up after, so I would recommend going before 8. After dinner, it's a short walk to the river scenic spot where you can enjoy the nightscape!

Definitely will be back the next time I'm back in Porto. (Btw the restaurant also has free wifi, just ask them for...

5 Stars – A Must-Visit in Porto!

We had an incredible dining experience at Bota Fogo during our visit to Porto. From the moment we arrived, the service was top-notch — our server, Ama, truly elevated the evening. She was not only warm and welcoming but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful recommendations and insights that made our meal even more enjoyable.

The Francesinha was absolutely amazing — rich, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. It’s a must if you want to try this iconic Porto dish done right. We also had the octopus, which was a standout — beautifully cooked, tender, and packed with flavor. Definitely one of the best we’ve had.

The atmosphere was cozy yet modern, and the attention to detail in both the food and service made this one of our favorite meals in Portugal. Highly recommend to anyone...
