BEWARE!!! SCAM RESTAURANT!!!
I feel obligated to warn anyone Tourist considering dining at Cantinho dos Bragança—DO NOT GO HERE! My family and I recently had a horrible experience that left us feeling completely scammed.
When we visited this restaurant in Porto, Portugal, the waiter approached us and highly recommended one of their fish dishes. We checked the menu, where the most expensive fish-related meal was around €30. Based on that, we decided to go with the recommended dish, a plate of sea bass. However, the price for this dish wasn’t listed on the menu, which should have been a red flag, but we trusted the restaurant.
Imagine our shock when the bill arrived, and we were charged an outrageous €95 for a single plate of sea bass! When we questioned this absurd charge, the waiter explained that the price was calculated based on the number of people at our table, estimating €25 per person for one plate of fish. This explanation was nothing but a pathetic attempt to justify an obvious rip-off.
It’s clear that this restaurant is running a scam, preying on unsuspecting tourists. No reputable establishment would charge nearly €100 for a meal without clearly stating the price upfront. This place is a disgrace, and I strongly advise everyone to avoid it at all costs. Save your money and your sanity—DO NOT FALL...
Read moreWe went as a group of 3 to the restaurant. We had heard quite a lot about the Sangria. We also decided to try the food. The sangria was very nice. We ordered the special sangria. Strawberries, cucumber and passion fruit. We also decided to order some tapas. We got the croquetes, beef tartar and octopus in green sauce. The service was slow and the waiter seemed very nervous which made us feel uncomfortable. The beef tratar arrived and the waiter poorly mixed the egg, also the beef should’ve been diced in smaller chunks. It felt you were eating raw beef. The octopus was nice. We also ordered the premium cut meet selection which was also misleading. It’s a steak served rare with some fries. We decided not to get coffee as the waiter kept ignoring us. As we ordered the bill and wanted to pay by card the machine broke. They tried to fix it but it didn’t work and recommended to withdraw money from an ATM that will charge you 4€ to take cash out. In summary. The food is expensive and the quality is average. I would just recommend the sangria and avoid the food. The decor is nice and modern. For what we paid we believe there are better places for less money with better customer service in the...
Read moreWe recently dined at this restaurant for our final evening before departure, hoping to enjoy a memorable meal. While the food was indeed good and the atmosphere very pleasant, our experience was unfortunately tainted by a serious issue of pricing transparency. A staff member recommended a fresh fish to share, accompanied by grilled vegetables. He told us the dish would cost 65 euros. Though we found it somewhat expensive, we agreed, trusting his assurance that it was a large, high-quality fish. To our shock, the bill listed the dish at 95 euros—30 euros more than the price we were clearly told. We felt misled and frankly scammed. Such a practice is not only disappointing, but it also undermines the trust that guests place in the staff’s recommendations. It’s a shame, because we genuinely appreciated the food and ambiance. We were ready to leave with a positive memory, but this left a bitter aftertaste. Clients who value your cuisine deserve honesty and respect—not this kind of treatment. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously to ensure better transparency and fairness...
