I came here after reading google reviews about how this place is an authentic Portuguese restaurant that the locals frequent. Yes indeed, the locals eat at this restaurant, but be absolutely prepared to be treated like a tourist: this translates into getting ridiculously small dishes compared to the locals and not much in terms of service. I paid 12 euros for the grilled porc meal with rice and French fries which equated to roughly 50g of porc, 100g of rice, and 50g of French fries. Not only that but the food itself was extremely basic and bland. This was a huge disappointment as I looked over at the table of locals next to me, one of whom had ordered the same meal as me, and noticed they received significantly larger portions (a very large plate half full of rice and half full of fries, and in another plate, at least three times the amount of porc I was served). What an absolute disappointment and let down. I left this restaurant still very hungry. Read moreLong overdue review! It's an absolute gem of an eatery in the touristy area of Porto. Unpretentious and hearty local fare at a very reasonable price. My wife and I visited Casa Lopes for lunch four days in a row; that tells you how much we love that place.
Go for the daily special - it's usually a meat stew with rice. The vegetable soup is especially welcome on a rainy day. Satisfying and tasty home-cooked food that hits the spot.
It's a busy place that welcomes plenty of locals who work in the area - that should be a good indicator of their quality and appeal.
Please keep up the good work,...

It wasn’t too expensive at €13 including couvert. The dish of the day was seafood rice, and I was recommended a glass of vinho verde which was absolutely delicious. Espresso to top it off.
Staff were friendly and nice, albeit service was a little slow, which was understandable as this place is popular amongst locals! And some lucky foreigners who managed to find the place (not that difficult, it’s just an alley or two behind the...
