I really have a lot to say about this place, because I had high expectations and as a tourist who is in Portugal for the first time, I was most looking forward to trying local food and local specialties. So it's about the testing menu, so let's clarify that right away. First I have to say that I came out disappointed. Why? The first reason is that I received information through social networks, that I, a restaurant guest, choose the regions from which I want to try the meals. That didn't happen. It was easier for the host to choose one region himself and offer it to all restaurant guests. Another big disappointment was the portion sizes. For example, all the starters were shared in small plates and came one for two people. If paid 40 euros per person, or 80 euros for two people. Why do we get one plate with 5 olives and a fish pate, which can't even be spread on half of the bread. What surprised me the most were the main courses. Beans with seafood and some kind of stew with meat and seafood. I was just expecting fish specialties. No beans. Beans are beans everywhere. Whatever you add to it. And finally, the young waiter would have to learn to give everyone the same amount of attention, not those he thinks might leave him a hefty tip. As far as I'm concerned, this place is the biggest disappointment of my gastronomic experience in Portugal, maybe because I had seriously high...
Read moreWe arrived in Porto starving, tired, and late, but our experience at this fine dining restaurant was nothing short of rejuvenating. From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance and warm hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The surprise menu concept, featuring ingredients and dishes from various regions of Portugal, was executed with remarkable finesse. Each course was thoughtfully explained and together served with local wines of wished taste, enhancing the flavors and providing a true taste of Portugal’s rich culinary heritage.
The staff’s knowledge and passion for their craft shone through in their detailed explanations of each dish's origin and preparation methods. This added layer of storytelling enriched our dining experience, making it both educational and enjoyable. The meticulous attention to detail, both in the presentation and the combination of flavors, demonstrated a high level of culinary artistry.

Read moreMe and my Friend stayed in Porto (his first time and mine the second time), we were looking for a good restaurant in Porto and found the emotivo. We expected just a normal Portuguese restaurant.... But it wasn’t! We got to know a completely different portuguese cuisine than we knew (it’s not a touristy food, but completely regional). We went even two days there in a row, because we loved the atmosphere so much. The chef de cuisine Sara Verde, the waiter and their assistant were so nice to us! They’re the most polite and friendly humans that we got to know there, three strong women, who know how to keep running one of the best restaurants in Porto. We were in a Michelin star restaurant the day before and it wasn’t near as good as emotivo! The restaurant concept, interior design are all fabulous and innovative. My conclusion: Go and try it, it’s a priceless experience (for ca 25€ per person for an 8 course menu\ we’re from Munich and you would pay for the same experience over 200€ per person) -We will come back when I get some free days again at the ICU to try more regional food! We...
