Avoid this bar – no view is worth getting assaulted. We visited last night with two friends, excited to enjoy cocktails with a view. The bar lady was lovely, and we were having a great time. Early in the evening, my boyfriend sat on a small plastic stool (a very cheap one, nothing fancy) that cracked beneath him (see photo of the chair). He immediately let the waitress know and moved the chair aside to prevent anyone else from sitting on it and getting hurt. The chair honestly could've already been damaged but we still offered to pay. Later in the night, a man we hadn’t seen before suddenly approached us, yelling aggressively about “breaking the chair” and waving it in our faces. His behaviour was shocking and completely unprovoked. The waitress continued to serve us, and we carried on enjoying our night, we didn’t see him for a while so we thought he was a random guy! Things escalated and he refused service to us and kept our money for the drinks we were refused. As we were leaving, I went upstairs to collect my phone, which the waitress had kindly been charging for me, when the same man grabbed me violently. He gripped my arms so tightly that I now have bruises and swelling, while aggressively pushing me down the stairs, despite the fact I was already leaving and had done nothing wrong. My boyfriend, seeing me being assaulted, stepped in to protect me. At that point, three other men surrounded him, while another held me back. My boyfriend ended up with a bleeding black eye, while I was left with swollen arms and scratches. Throughout this, the waitress was also telling the men to stop, clearly horrified by what was happening. We have travelled extensively and never experienced this kind of violence, hatred, and complete disregard for paying customers. We spent a significant amount here and were respectful the entire time. The aggression from this man (who appeared to be staff) was terrifying, and from what I’ve since read in reviews, this is not an isolated incident. No one should have to fear for their safety on a night out. This place is dangerous, please think twice before going...
Read moreThis used to be one of the best bars in Porto that as a local I love to go to and recommend to all my clients and people around me. However, they changed the waiters this summer and the two men at the bar are extremely unpleasant and rude. I find it serious that in a bar with a good reputation in the city, such as the Ferro, these waiters do not know how to properly make the trendy cocktail in Oporto: the famous portotonico. You kindly suggest to them that the Portotonico has a little more port wine in it (because otherwise it only tastes like tonic). The portotonic is not a gyntonic (gyn is 40º, porto is at most 23º, that's why it must have a little more port in it to taste like port wine), I think this is basic knowledge in the city's pubs business. The response is that they almost insult you for making this suggestion. People around me have told me the same thing about these waiters: they don't know how to deal with people, basic to the job they are doing and from what I see, they tend to show this inappropriate behaviour in general with customers. So before the bar lose all reputation and people stop going to this bar, I leave this comment for the manager of the Ferro to read, and maybe he can take some action about it. Read moreI had a good time here. Came across ferro randomly and differently than what I see in some negative reviews the staff was friendly, helpful and no complains at all. Ps: i don't know any of them and was my first time here.
Prices are good, cheap if I would compare to Lisbon bars that I'm used to go to have a cocktail or two. Location is great and the terrace has a good view, but this was mentioned many times before.
Music was good last night! Good volume and mood, the lady behind the decks shared good and high energy techno, shout out to her specially.
The atmosphere was light, friendly and dancy! and not dark, heavy and negative as some darkroom dancefloors can be. I like that this event started early and by 11pm i left to go home and sleep well. More my kind of party, about music and people and not only getting h1gh.
The smoke machine could/should be activated remotely and not by a staff member coming once in a while to press a button. But that's about the only thing that was a bit off and I'm being a prick, i know.
Thank you for the night Ferro bar. I...
