MyStay Porto Batalha - Oporto Tourist Apartments — Hotel in Porto

I don't normally write Google reviews but I feel like I need to write this because I had a terrible experience and I do not recommend the hotel to anyone.

The hotel is located in a small, quite dodgy alley and there were a lot of steep slopes and stairs to get there. When I arrived at the hotel, there was no one and I was unable to enter. There was a sign at the hotel saying that there is self check in and details would have been sent to my email before I arrived. However I did not receive any email. A kind lady (who is a hotel guest) happened to see me and let me in, and shared that she had a similar terrible experience trying to check into the hotel because she hadn't gotten the check in details either.

I waited outside for half an hour in a storm and pouring rain with my luggage while trying to call the hotel. After a long time, the hotel called me back and sent me check in details but at this point I had already racked up a massive bill from international roaming calls.

Shortly after, I received a message from my bank saying that my credit card (which I used to book the hotel) had been compromised and there were unauthorised transactions of over USD$1000. I then had to contact my bank to get my credit card blocked and replaced and obviously this caused me great distress and put a dent on the rest of my vacation plans.

Also the room is small. No toiletries are provided. You can literally hear your neighbours talking and walking around their rooms, as if they are walking in your room.

I whatsapped the hotel to give feedback but they did not respond. There is literally no staff to help you. Avoid...

I would like to say we had a good experience, but we did not. Arrived at around 11pm on the first night (late check in was one of the main reasons why we chose this place). There were stains and hairs on the bedding, towels, pillows, floor and bathroom door does not close. One of the duvets even had BLOOD STAINS on it. And the hairs on the door, that were mentioned in someone's previous review were still there, and a receipt from the 4th of June still on the breakfast table, we checked in on June 30th. We took pictures of everything and requested that all towels and bedding be replaced, including the blood stained duvet and that the room be given a hoover and mop, and the hairs from the bathroom door be cleaned. Came around 8pm on the second evening, and towels had indeed been changed, however the blood stained duvet was still in the bed and I don't believe that the bedding was changed, because my foot was bitten over night, on both nights by some sort of bug and guess what the hairs on the door were still there and someone else's receipt that i had asked to be taken away, still there on the breakfast table. I would not recommend this place to anyone, it is not clean, management do not seem to care. The only good things were the location and the comfy mattresses. Please be wary when booking and what you expect out of it. We did not get value for our money. I couldn’t decide if this was a 3 or 4 star for us but went with the 4 due to 1 of the issues being out of the hotels control. The location is excellent with bars and tourist areas both up and down the hill within close proximity to the hotel. We had a couple of issues with water going off twice in our 4 day stay (informed after it was due to third party works in the area) it came on after a while but was low pressure and often luke warm. We also had an issue where the electric went off to our floor but after a call to the central office I was spoken through how to reset it. Another member of our party had a leak from the air con unit which made the floor wet and door surround swell, this was reported on check out. Other guests were very annoying as the floors are laminate and one family, above us, decided to walk (march) the length of their room at all hours (not a fault of the hotel, just inconsiderate guests, so is not factored into our rating) |The breakfast was nice, with a selection of pastries and toast was available with preserves. The members of staff on reception were all nice and helpful and gave us plenty of information.
