My wife picked this hotel on a whim and it turned out very well. It's a nice looking tourist-class hotel, and the service was very good. The plaza-facing room was a bit spartan but clean and comfortable and we looked forward to the breakfast buffet each morning (with fresh-squeezed orange juice and plenty of fresh fruits and other healthy options as well as more traditional European breakfast fare). The room had it's own LG heat exchanger (heating and a/c), and with our terrace door closed it was absolutely silent in the room. We both slept very well. In fact, this part of the city seemed to be rather quiet in general {late March). We also found the location to be quite good, with easy access to all parts of the old town within a 10-15 minute walk and about an easy 15-minute walk to the airport train station (2 euro fare). We even walked to the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal (Crystal Palace), which took about 30 minutes each way, and was well worth it. There are several good spots to eat within a short walk, including the best coffee in Porto (C'alma Coffee Room). The only criticism I had was the shower, which was rather small to begin with (80 cm x 80 cm) and had a plumbing fixture setup that extended another 15 cm from the wall, with a pointy valve handle adding another few centimeters, and it could be rather musical when turned on if the diverter valve wasn't turned completely tight to one side or the other. We plan to stay here again on our next...

Disappointing Stay – Poor Service Overshadowed Our Porto Experience

When visiting a new city, the first impressions often come transport to the Accomodation and hotel staff. We took the metro from the airport, so our first real contact in Porto was the hotel front desk — unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience.

The receptionist who greeted us made no effort to welcome us, speaking and acting more like a machine than a person. Sadly, every time we needed assistance during the morning shift, we had to deal with the same unapproachable staff member. Throughout our stay, the overall service was unfriendly and, at times, borderline rude.

Other issues included: • The Wi-Fi never worked, anywhere in the hotel. • The breakfast was basic and repetitive, the same every day. • Our room was not clean upon check-in — there was trash left behind, the floors were dirty, and the curtains were filthy. • The door kept getting stuck, there was poor lighting, and the TV didn’t work the first night.

On a more positive note, the location is convenient, the beds were comfortable, and we appreciated the free water dispenser at reception. But those few positives were not enough to make up for the lack of care and hospitality.

For the price we paid, this hotel does not offer good value. If I had known the Moov Hotel was just around the corner, I would have stayed there instead. Sadly, our experience at Legendary Hotel negatively impacted our overall...

We stayed in this hotel in our first visit to Oporto. On one hand, the hotel's location is excellent, very near to some of the main attractions in Oporto. We found the room clean, spacious and the bed comfortable, although not soundproof at all. On the other hand, we found some of the staff very unfriendly towards us and we don't know exactly why. As an example, the first day we arrived I went to talk with a young guy at the front desk to ask him about the breakfast service that the hotel sells at 10 euros pp. I asked him what is in the breakfast and he said "continental breakfast" when I try to get more info, he just said "continental breakfast". Then I asked him if we can go and see what was in the buffet very paying, he said no in not a nice tone. We have never experienced something like this before, normally the staff at the front desk go into detail because the hotel is interested in selling the service. In other establishments they have a leaflet detailing the breakfast offering. A bad day could happen to anyone, but it just happens that few minutes before our exchange the same staff member was happily given plenty of details to some French guests about the city. I found his change of demeanor odd. This is one example. I have my own conclusions about what could have trigger this behavior after reading some of the bad reviews...

Convenient location for access to the train, restaurants and pharmacies. Nice tour operator next door. The manager was at the reception when we were checking out and was pleasant and cheerful. The staff serving breakfast as well were courteous. Everyone else at the front desk was very unfriendly and noted first hand to be quite rude to another guest. The breakfast buffet daily was plentiful with various options and the highlight of the stay. The rooms are very noisy despite notices posted on the walls stating they were “quiet zones”. The door to the toilet did not open all the way, scraping and getting stuck in the floor. The commode is adjacent to the sink, mere millimeters between the two. Towels hang close to the commode from the sink and close to the bidet from the wall…something I find quite unhygienic, and utterly impractical. There is no exhaust in the bathroom so the humidity and mist lingers long after a shower. There was a couch in the room that put us off immediately, for all the visible stains on it. The curtains are not hooked properly and very dirty. Mold was noted in the bottom of the wall near the balcony door. Despite the good breakfast, I would not want to return to this hotel.
