The service and communication with the hotel, even before arrival, were excellent. We were in a room with a balcony (privilege), it was not big but very comfortable and high quality, everything of the highest quality. We also used the parking lot next to the hotel - we booked in advance on the parking lot chain's app, parking for the number of days of our stay and it was very convenient, our identification plate was recognized at the entrance and exit. The hotel is in an excellent location, and at the same time, even when we wanted to go to more distant places (to the Gaia area on the other side), we took a bolt at a very reasonable price (6-8 euros). We didn't use the pool as it was closed due to the weather, but it looks like a nice addition to the hotel. There were two small things to improve: when we entered the room we found that the soap dispenser in the sink was empty (we told the reception and they immediately came to fill it) and then we found the same for the body soap in the shower (again we contacted the reception and they arranged it). We sat one day at lunchtime to eat in the hotel's restaurant, even though there was only one couple eating there, it took a long time for a waiter to address us and even when he did, we asked if it was possible to clean the table and it didn't happen, they brought us a menu and put it on a wet table, only after we asked again - They came to clean. After that we ordered food (really simple - salad and soup) and after an hour it didn't arrive, we asked to cancel it. It seems that there is no manager responsible for the restaurant who walks around and is present in the place, this also stood out in the breakfast, which was reasonable but there was a bit of a feeling that there is no manager in the place, there are young waiters but it seems that there is no manager. Everything else was really excellent and we think that overall this is an excellent choice of hotel with reception service and room service at a...
Read moreThe Mercure Porto Central had everything we needed for a perfect stay Monday - Friday 16 - 20 September. It is an excellent City hotel in Porto - it even has a garden, small pool and loungers! I loved to be able to swim after sightseeing and there were lovely large towels available for the pool! The location was perfect - very central - just round the corner from the Aliados Metro with regular metro trains to the airport for less than 3 euros. The staff and service were amazing! The staff seemed genuinely to care about guests and did everything they could to ensure a wonderful stay. The breakfasts were varied, healthy and delicious. There was a bar, outside patio seating area, gym, luggage storage room. Our room, 304, was large - no balcony but with a great shower room and it was quiet and so clean. Everywhere was clean! Kettle, minifridge, safe, TV, comfortable beds, air con, lift, hotel food - everything we needed was there. ALL the staff were excellent - hard-working, smiling and so helpful - they actually seemed happy in their jobs. Special thanks to Ana, Catarina, Joana, Suraya, Maria, Joao, Artur and our room and other catering and hotel staff (sorry don't know all their names !) for your excellent service, warm welcome and help with everything, like taxis, late check out etc. Highly recommend this hotel. Will definitely return soon. Thank you! Porto is a delightful city made by the lovely...
Read moreWe stayed here for two night. We took the train to Porto from Lisbon and took bus no 207 to Aliados. The hotel was very close to the bus station, so it was really very convenient. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious too. I liked it. Its location was terrific. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a pool, so you could have a sunbath there. Right opposite the hotel, there is a shop selling gelato called Gelataria Portuense. I found a good laundry near the hotel and it is called Laundry & Lockers. Moreover, it did not take long for us to walk to the metro station. Imperial McDonald’s is near the hotel too. It just took a few minutes to reach there on foot. Basically, the location of this hotel is really very convenient. There is a restaurant called French Fries Factory, which is also near the hotel. I had a meal there one night and its curry sauce was terrific! My room was on the fourth floor and there was no balcony so I could not enjoy the street views. If I visit Porto, I will stay at this hotel again and I would book a room with a balcony. (I think some people might prefer the pool...
