Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in December in a Deluxe Double room and it was wonderful! My family and I booked 3 separate Deluxe Double rooms. Hubby and I arrived first because we took an earlier train from Lisbon. Initially, the other two rooms were on the same floor and ours was on a separate floor so I asked if it was possible for us to at all be together on the same floor, if not all of the rooms could be next to each other. They ended up upgrading us to a really nice suite! It had a little terrace you could open up and a separate sitting area. Lucky for us! Not so lucky for the other two rooms. Though their rooms were nice too, just not as spacious. Here are some of the pros/cons of our stay:
Pros: -Spacious and clean rooms -Nice public sitting area outside of the suite rooms, where we could meet up before heading out -Mini fridge with bottled water and Coca Cola -Each floor has a different theme, which I thought was really cool. You’ll see a different scent-themed decor (and smell) for each. For example, one floor was coffee, another was chili, and another was star anise -Very reasonably prices. We booked through Hotels.com and paid maybe about €110 per night, including taxes -Great location! It’s right in the center of Porto and most of the tourist attractions and good restaurants are 5-10 minute walk away -Huge bathroom with his and hers sinks and plenty of space underneath for your toiletries -Comfortable beds/pillows. Although it wasn’t a true King size, more like two twins pushed together but I think that’s just a European thing -Bath robes -Free welcome drink at their hotel bar (which you don’t have to use on the same night as you check in if you're too tired) -They let us check in early at around 12:30 even though check-in is not until 2 or 3
Cons: -There is construction going on outside so it’s a little bit more difficult (though not impossible) to get an Uber outside. We took an Uber from the Santa Apolonia train station. He couldn’t drop us off right in front but it was still just around the corner, so it wasn’t terrible even with our huge luggages. Also you could only hear anything if you open the windows. If you don't, you can't hear anything at all.
Honestly, I can’t really think of any cons other than that. Highly recommend Pestana Porto. Might be one of the best hotels I’ve stayed...

Read moreSuperb hotel in central Porto. Well situated for everything downtown, Sao Bento station, metro and transfers over to Gaia (including by walking ofer the bridge). The exceptional service we received from the team made our 2 night stay a home from home. Nothing too much trouble - from the front desk to servers in the restaurant and the housekeeping team. The little details were very much appreciated - upon early check in, a call from Luis to say our room was ready, spakling wine and cake for my husband's birthday, extra milk delivered to our room for making tea and coffee. Breakfast in the restaurant included a wonderful selection and was high quality. All the staff we met were friendly and professional and motivated to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Special shout out to Rita Teixera and Diogo for their leadership and great organisation. And we must mention the front desk team for their kindness, always ready with a smile and a recommendation in Porto - Inês, Alex, Luis and Catarina, you are doing a phenomenal job. We were sad to have just 3 days in Porto and only 2 nights at your beautiful hotel. The history and character of the hotel are special, but the people who work here make it feel like home. We look forward to our future return to Porto and to another stay at Pestana Porto...
