I ordered two mugs of sangria and was charged €6 each, €12 for both, when the menu states €3.80 each, totaling €7.60. The menu also says that 1 liter of sangria is €11. Additionally, they took a tip without informing me. This is unacceptable. I pointed out the discrepancy to the colleague at the counter regarding the menu prices, and he said he could only sell the mugs at €6 and that it was not allowed to serve the cheaper ones. If it's on the menu, how can it not be allowed? I've worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years and have been to this place before. It is unacceptable to charge prices that are not on the menu or to increase the total from €7.60 to €12. They need to be consistent, and they also charged a tip because I paid with a card. I shouldn't have to pay extra fees for using a card. Legally, be aware that there is no minimum limit, and they must accept card payments if they offer that option! They gave a very bad impression. I won't return. I am Portuguese. Tourists, be careful not to be overcharged. Tipping is not mandatory in Portugal and it is definitely not the policy of this establishment because I've been there many...
Read moreSuper friendly and crowded place with lots of locals & decent pub grub. Excellent views across the Douro to the monastery and right next to Luis I bridge and the funicular too.
Hot food was served in 5 minutes flat, with cheesy pork buns, fries and lupini beans. Good selection of drinks and fair prices.
Really lovely guy behind the bar, who was very helpful in recommending Portugese food to try and the waiters were also very lovely. Quite a long queue, but that was mostly due to disorganised customers (eyeroll at the woman who decided to wait until she was at the till to take multiple orders from people back at the table) and also the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, so you can't...
Read moreThis was one of the worst experiences we’ve had in Porto. We were visiting and went to this place hoping to enjoy a beer, but while we were in line trying to figure out what to order — there was no visible menu — a man who seemed to be the owner shouted something rude in Portuguese at us, including the word “MADRE” in an aggressive tone, and then closed the queue by abruptly lowering a rope right in front of us. We were simply trying to understand how things worked, and his attitude was completely unwelcoming, disrespectful, and unprofessional. We felt pushed away for no reason. As tourists, we were shocked by such treatment. Definitely not...
