This bar is a real find. On the second level of the area overlooking the Duoro river it is a great spot to try ports by small producers that you will otherwise likely not find. There are tables on the terrace which is a great place to watch the river, the boat traffic, and, of course, the people. Maria and Jerome, the owners, are present, a pleasure to talk to, and very knowledgable. As a small venue, it has only a couple of bottles of each class of port open at any point. So, ask which wine or vintage, white or tawny port is available, and what they recommend, and they will serve you up a flight or glass. Expect to learn more about the port business than even what you might have learned on any tours that you might of taken. If you know little, don’t be intimidated. I am certain that they will meet you where you are. There are wine and cheese platers available with outstanding portugese...

The young woman that served me that evening was absolutely fantastic and knowledgeable. I got the tasting menu and, per my Canadian standards, I expected a finger of wine per glass. Instead, I got three (for five glasses!). Not only was the wine fantastic, but I was treated to a wine lesson in respect to every one of them. Varietal? Check. Region ? Check. Wine making process ? Check. Porto is a beautiful city, and Bacchus Vini was the highlight of this particular evening. 10/10 will come back again!

edit I actually came back the next and had the Port Wine tasting menu. When they say 'tasting', they actually mean pretty generous glasses. I would advise you don't drink before coming here, otherwise you may leave tipsier than expected.

edit They speak at least English, French and Portuguese (obviously). Perhaps even more languages. This made communication...

We had a fantastic wine tasting experience at Bacchus vini. The food was very good and Maria did an excellent job of informing us on the different regions and types of grapes that created the wines in our tasting.

We had done a port tasting at one of the port producer's across the river and this was by far a much better experience. While we didn't do aport tasting at Bacchus vini, the people next to us did one and it was much more extensive and informative than the ones across the river. Prices were very good compared to other places for a tasting.

I highly recommend Bacchus vini. The exact location is slightly off on Google maps...this is on the incline near the top of the incline,...

Usually I am one who reads reviews and doesn’t really write ones, but this place really deserves all the praise. Very kind people who care about their customers but also about their employers and those in need. Usually restaurants/bars send away people who are homeless and in need of food. But this place really showed kindness and generosity in a respectful way. And I didn’t even start about the wine-tasting. It was extraordinary. The person assisting us explained the wines and gave us good advice on the wines and cheeses/meat combinations. It all felt really warm, welcoming and of good quality. Really recommend the vintage port! If I could give more stars, I would.

This was one of the two port tastings we did in Porto and both were phenomenal. Let’s start with the atmosphere. The seating was right next to the water and had a great view of everything passing by. With the majority of their seating outside, it was a great spot in the summer sun. As for the wine itself, it was some of the best port we have had and the staff new their stuff. They were spicy and sweet without being too sweat. The staff dove into the seat ails of all the differences and answered any questions we had. We went with a group of 6 but any more may be too much for their seating. Overall it was a great tasting I would definitely recommend.
