"Actually" the food was medium okay (anyone who has ever really eaten in Hanoi will be disappointed anyway). However, I found it completely unappetizing and inexcusable when the restaurant's own white dog ran out of the kitchen and was petted and fed behind the counter and he then scratched and jumped around. There was no subsequent hand washing at least! --- If I had seen this before eating, I would have left --- with all due respect, this is a hygienic no-go --- for eating: I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and preparation of the summer rolls with peanut sauce. When it came to the beef salad, however, I was very disappointed, as I assumed from what was shown on the menu and what was to be expected that you wouldn't just be served isolated chunks of beef in an otherwise standard salad. In the final noodle and vegetable soup, the chicken broth highlighted in the text was more of a watery substance. The green tea provided was equally weak, as there was no taste whatsoever and no recognizable leaves, let alone ground leaves. --- Hence a very cloudy conclusion, as on top of that there was no room atmosphere whatsoever, neither musically nor from any accessories....

It was four of us for dinner, and one of us has a serious allergy to nuts. In addition, three of us have a strong distaste for coriander, so we asked for our dinners without it.
The first dish arrived for my friend with the allergy, and it was literally covered in peanuts. Luckily we noticed, and they changed the dish to a new one. The second dish arrived, and my friend could taste the peanuts and stopped eating right away (the dish was also filled with a forest of coriander, by the way). If it had been walnuts instead of peanuts, I would be writing this review from the ER.
To add insult to injury, both of the other dishes that should have been without coriander had plenty of coriander in them. The chef came out for one of the dishes and had the guts to say there was no coriander in it, I literally had to point out the pieces to them. The whole thing honestly felt like a joke.
We paid for the things we did eat and left. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE...
Read moreIguarias de Hanoi is an amazing Vietnamese restaurant in Porto. The staff here is incredibly friendly and attentive, making everyone feel like a valued guest.
The food is seriously the real deal! The flavors of the Vietnamese pho are so authentic, and the broth is awesome for a place in northern Portugal.
They also have a great selection of vegan-friendly dishes, making it a perfect spot to bring along my vegan friends. It's not easy to find restaurants that cater to different diets, so major props to them for that.
They are also dog-friendly on the patio! It's a fantastic touch that made my dining experience even better. Being able to enjoy delicious food while having my dog with me just made everything feel cozier.
All in all, Iguarias de Hanoi is a must-visit spot. The service is top-notch, the food is authentic, and the atmosphere is welcoming. Whether you're a Vietnamese cuisine fan or a newbie, this place has something special for everyone. If you're in the mood for some incredible Vietnamese Pho or exploring new flavors,...
