I don't usually leave bad reviews. As it makes me unhappy. However there were a few things that were very very bad from a service/customer service perspective.
Booked on Thursday, called on Friday to confirm the booking (as there wasn't any deposit or payment)
The room was spoke about on the phone as confirmed and that payment would be on arrival on Saturday.
On Saturday, arrived at hotel about 1pm, was greeted and paid for the 1 room, nothing else was mentioned was given room key and went to the room.
Got a call asking to come down to reception and pay for ANOTHER ROOM. as apparently the website had booked 2 rooms instead of one, with the exact same guests,
The transaction on the website was within 1minute,. The receptionist insisted that the second room must be paid for else we would have to leave the hotel, losing our already paid for room, with this threat, having no where else to stay, and been down already £150 ish quid, was forced to pay for the other room that was never mentioned on the phone, or when we arrived.
If we had known about this, no one way would have stayed.
There were other bad practice things, such as entering the room when the do not disturb card was present, and general uncleaniness (i.e. the bathroom, and the cuboard had a extra blanket with brown stains, and dust on it, likely unwashed, also the air conditioning did not work)
Anyway, I'd appreciate a refund. We enjoyed Porto anyway and tried not to let this bad experience damage the trip, but when its the place your staying its...
Read moreMy wife and I spent seven nights staying at the Boavista Guest House. We had a wonderful time, and felt really at home. Nice room close to the outside terrace. Excellent breakfast. There is a daily maid service for your room. Also a small bar and lounge / library. Location was really good for downtown Porto and also for Foz and Matosinhos, suburbs on the Atlantic coast. Metro station (Carolina Michaelis) is five minutes walk away and there are also a couple of local bus stops. The metro stop is on the direct line to and from the airport. There is also a useful small supermarket and bakery / cafe opposite the guest house, and a pharmacy a few doors down the street. A few TV channels in the room for non Portuguese speakers, and a good WiFi signal. Thanks to all the staff who are all super friendly and helpful and attentive. Ask for a free copy of the city map when you check in, as it's really good. Looking forward to visiting the guest house again in the autumn. Porto...
Read moreJust returned from a 2 day stay here after visiting Porto for the Champions League Final. This is a small, friendly guesthouse only a short walk from the direct Metro line to the airport and about 20 minutes walk to the City Centre||We stayed in a twin room on the 2nd floor. The room and bathroom were quite small but modern and perfectly clean and comfortable. Breakfast was continental and served in a pleasant dining room or on the small outdoor terrace. I would’ve liked perhaps a little more choice at breakfast e.g. fruit or a greater selection of pastries but what we had was tasty and fresh. Covid restrictions being managed well||Antonietta and the staff are very friendly and helped us with directions and public transport queries. Service was great||Would definitely recommend this place for a short stay at a more than reasonable...
