Nestled in the heart of Porto, OMA Restaurante is an exquisite culinary haven where every bite tells a story of passion, precision, and artistry. This intimate, family-run gem, helmed by a talented chef and his equally remarkable partner, redefines the meaning of dining excellence. Their journey began in Germany at culinary school, and today, their shared dream flourishes in a restaurant that feels like home but delivers a dining experience nothing short of spectacular.
The food? A revelation. Each dish is a masterstroke of flavor and technique, crafted with care and imagination. From the moment the house-made bread graces your table, you know you’re in for something extraordinary. The menu sings with fresh, seasonal ingredients, harmonized into dishes that feel both refined and deeply comforting. It’s clear every plate reflects the chef’s devotion and skill—a true labor of love.

OMA Restaurante’s charm lies not only in the food and wine but in the warmth of its owners. The couple’s story weaves itself into every corner of the restaurant, creating an atmosphere that’s as personal as it is sophisticated. Read moreWe booked on The Fork for the Friday set lunch menu and were blown away by the quality, taste and value of the meal!
For €16 pp, you get - water, coffee, bread, starter, main and dessert. Insane value, and I challenge you to find something equivalent in Porto if you can.
We started with some warm fluffy brioche type bread which was served with whipped butter, and some herb and tomato focaccia. Both breads had us excited for what was to come, and you could really tell the quality straight away.
Next was a sweet potato salad with mini croutons, rocket, olives and feta. Really nice salad with textures and flavours, saltiness of the feta went really nicely with the sweetness of the potato. Big fan!
The main was the star of the show. Cannelloni with a rich and meaty filling, plenty of cheese and ricotta, it’s soft, warming and savoury and the crispy cheese top will have you wanting for more. One of the best pasta dishes I’ve tried.
Finally desert was a more simple icecream with thin slices of pineapple, mascarpone and some biscuit crumble. Sweet, slightly tart and fruity. Nice way to end.
The service was also amazing, our waiters explained each dish, and were very attentive and friendly.
Next time we’re in Porto we’ll try and come for...
Read moreService was good. The music from the cheap stereo was annoying. And the place was too warm.
I went to a restaurant called "Grill It" tonight. They were unpretentious and delivered exactly what they offered for 40 Euros. Oma was the exact opposite at 5 times the price. They obviously used modern techniques and skills to deliver and present their dishes but forgot about the most important element- FLAVOR.
We did the One Way tasting menu and only ONE course was barely adequate.
The Japanese tuna was a mess of conflicting flavors.
The octopus was buried in a cold gelatinous goo. Slimey!
The cod was good but the bean side dish was undercooked.
The main dish - lamb loin - was overcooked yet cold.
The dessert just tasted burnt.
Then we were insulted with a tiny mint tea and generic mini pasteis de nata which was worse than what we had at breakfast in our hotel.
The only upside was the wine pairing, but I have to say that the pours were really stingy.
All in all NOT a good experience and not what I'd expect from a Micheline Guide...
