Sobre O Rio — Restaurant in Porto

We visited on Thursday, April 13th for lunch. Our experience was one of the highlights of our time in Portugal. This family run restaurant provided friendly service and home-cooked fresh food. We ordered the grilled sardines based on what we had read in previous Google posts. They were cooked fresh on the charcoal grill outside and were delicious along with fresh salad and potatoes. The portion of food was spot on and we both struggled to eat everything on our plates. If you want a refined dining experience, go elsewhere. If you want previously cooked food warmed-up and served fast, go elsewhere. Folks should remember that their mean-spirited comments could potentially damage this family's business and that would be a great shame. This place more than met our expectations for fresh food and local experience. We enjoyed our visit immensely and will go again next time...

Delicious charcoal grilled sardines in an atmospheric local restaurant- the sardines were perfectly cooked and incredibly tasty - the actual grilling took place outside on an open barbecue wafting the mouth watering aroma into the air…. Which was what originally attracted us. The total cost for 2 plates with 3 large sardine each plus potatoes and salad garnish, and a small beer plus very full glass of vinho verde was just 25 euros, amazing value. Service was nicely done, but all in Portuguese, with allowances for foreigners! Highly recommended (and completely at odds with many other reviews, which seem unfair- we don’t usually eat in restaurants with less than 4 on google and this restaurant deserves a much higher...

Freshly coal grilled fish with just a little bit of wait while you enjoy a refreshing glass of sparkling white 👌 👌 fish was delicious and all staff was nice and really chill, felt like true local experience (also cheap!). We were wary of the reviews, but reading into them, all 1-star reviews are a bit bizzare. Come without hesitation on the weekend when they offer coal grilled fish, the wait is around 30 minutes but it’s worth...
