A Culinary Journey to Portugal! Stepping into Provavel was like being instantly transported to the heart of Portugal. From the moment we walked through the door, the warm and inviting ambiance. It felt like a home. The service truly stood out. Our server was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food. He was also one of the owners and patiently answered our questions. They guided us through the menu with excellent recommendations, explaining the traditional dishes and their origins, which added a wonderful layer to our meal. And the food! Oh, the food was simply divine. Everything was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender within. For the main course, a classic done to perfection – rich, flavorful, and incredibly comforting. Each dish was a testament to traditional Portuguese cooking, prepared with fresh ingredients and a clear dedication to flavor. Provavel isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. If you're looking for modern Portuguese cuisine served with exceptional hospitality, look no further. We left feeling completely satisfied and already planning our next visit. Highly, highly recommended!

A cosy, understated spot off the beaten track. The staff were very friendly and professional with a good sense of humour, and we had a very nice meal here for our last night in Porto. Be sure to book ahead as well saw plenty of people without reservations being turned away, even on a Tuesday evening. They have some really punchy flavours with their dishes and show a good level of creativity; you are likely to find several combinations of ingredients here you wouldn't see anywhere else in Porto, it's not just pork and octopus here. The only reason I can't score it higher is because of the menu itself, which requires a bit more detail; they should specify how the fish is prepared on the menu. Not everyone enjoys raw fish, it would help if it said if it was grilled, poached, etc or served raw, ceviche style, etc. The mackerel arrived at our table completely raw with nothing on the menu indicating it wouldn't be cooked. Luckily, we both still enjoyed it, but still would have preferred it cooked and others who don't like raw fish might have had a shock.

We could not fault our experience at Provavel. Don’t sleep on this one - the food here is a MUST! We had no idea it was only the fourth night this buzzy little restaurant had been open, and were greeted warmly by Miguel and Jo who introduced themselves as the owners. Each dish was perfectly crafted - cooked and seasoned to perfection, quite literally everything we put in our mouths from cocktails to bread to mains to dessert was outstanding. The staff were so friendly and made a huge effort to explain the components of each dish in English for us. We loved how excited everyone was about the food and our enjoyment of everything. Highlights were: sourdough with seaweed butter, lamb croquettes, prawn tartare, pork neck and chocolate mousse with smoked cream and olive oil (help I’m drooling again 🤤) We are big food people and we are so grateful to have stumbled upon this gem at the end of our road. You will likely struggle to get a table this time next year, this place is tooooooo good and it’s gunna get BUSY so get in there while you can!!!!!
