VÜMO — Restaurant in Porto

Vümo was such an incredible surprise. Wow. So glad to have this new vegan restaurant and craft beer option in Porto! This has quickly moved to the top of my vegan list in town.

The food is all smoky and delicious. Incredibly inventive and creative, and all made in-house with love. I've dined here three times already within the space of one week. Highlights include the reuben (house-made, smoked seitan pastrami), the "bun" (house-made crispy fried vegetable protein with smoky sauce and pickes), the bagel with cream cheese and smoky "lox," the chorizo with chimichurri, and the potatoes. Everything is eye-rolling delicious. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu (if there's a chance I can avoid ordering the reuben every time!!).

For drinks, they have a couple of local craft beers on tap (the owner is connected to the industry) as well as some long drinks like G&T and a couple of high end smoky scotch whiskies (as befits the theme). Edited to add that I’ve been dining here frequently for over a year, and it just gets better. The Palm Heart Roll (Palmito) is a strong contender to dethrone the Reuben as the king of the menu. So good!!!

The couple that owns the joint is super friendly and welcoming. Service industry veterans who know how to bring a well-served but casual vibe.

The seating is mostly inside with a few sidewalk tables on a quiet side street just up from Rua...

COSY ATMOSPHERE, SUPER FRIENDLY SERVICE AND CREATIVE MENU

I had the pleasure of going to VÜMO for a friend's birthday dinner, it was the perfect spot for an intimate celebration: cosy atmosphere, welcoming hosts and fun service. We laughed a lot and felt really looked after by the owners.

The food - wow! The menu is creative and inventive; delicious small plates with smokey flavours and beautifully presented. It's vegan with a smokey twist. If you want high-quality plant-based dishes with a twist, go to VÜMO! This isn't just another vegan place serving avo toast at all, it's a place that really adds to Porto's food scene - whether you're vegan or not.

So creative, beautifully presented and perfect for sharing with friends. We were a group of 9 and we pretty much ordered one of everything to share so we got to taste the whole menu! It was all delicious!

I didn't take any photos of the food because we were having too much fun! The owner is truly an excellent host and I can't wait to go again with friends to soak up the inviting...

An excellent, recurrent option. Delicious food, full of rich flavours and a UNIQUE concept - smokey plant-based food.

This is the spiritual sequel of one of the best restaurants in Porto, "As 7 Maravilhas".

You will find the ambience super welcoming with pleasant lighting, the service is even nicer and will make you feel right at home.

The food selection is amazing. Either for an afternoon snack or a full-on dinner, your taste buds will be in for a treat. You must absolutely try the fantastic soups with the signature focaccia, the hummus with the smokey vegetables, the daring reuben sandwich, and last but never least: the smoked olive oil. All home made, home-smoked.

As for drinks, you will find a local beverages, ranging from Craft beer (Colossus) to local Portuguese kombucha, and - a personal favorite - absinth à lá Parisienne.

Vümo is an experience that you will want to repeat, for everything it brings: a place where you can feel relaxed, eating tasty and unique food, comforting your palate and your thirst for good drink...
