We stopped in for lunch as we were passing by, and my wife was peckish. We sat at an outdoor table, and I went inside to order two beers from the woman who promised to bring them out. My wife ordered the soup, and the older gentleman who served us was lovely.

However, we had been waiting on our beers for a while. He apologised, explained that there was no order for beers, and went inside. The beers arrived shortly after. My wife enjoyed the soup and snacks.

We liked the atmosphere and the rest of the menu looked good, so we decided to reserve a table for dinner at 8. We would be passing on our way back home.

When we returned, the same woman who had taken our order for the beers at lunch came back with our drinks and my starter. We waited a bit because it was quite busy, but soon after, she returned with what we thought was going to be my wife’s starter, but it was actually her main course.

We pointed out that she had ordered soup to start first, but she had completely forgotten about it and served us her main anyway. How could the same server forget the same customer’s order twice in the same day?

My starter, the fried cod, was decent. However, my main course, the smoked sausage stew, was a bit of a disappointment. It was incredibly over-seasoned and I could have probably made it better at home. I wasn’t even close to finishing it because it was far too salty.

My wife’s main course, the ‘famous’ Grandmother’s Stew, she enjoyed. I tried a bit of it, and it was okay.

Overall, the experience was very disappointing. The two stars are simply for my wife enjoying her food at least and the older gentleman...

EAT HERE!!! Full stop! This restaurant is amazing. The food, the staff the atmosphere...everything - don't miss their retro decorations. We went on a Monday night during the off season, but on the weekends I recommend a reservation. Again, I cannot quite express in words how friendly the staff is. I encourage anyone to try to do their best with Portuguese as a matter of being polite, but they are English friendly. We let them know the types of food we each like and do not like and then asked them to bring us food. All of it was amazing. I had a pork / chestnut stew that was perfect and my wife...OK...I'm not going to lie I'm not sure what it was, but she loved it. Lastly...and I think this was because it was not too busy, but one of the staff drew a water color picture of us while we were dining. I've never had this happen before. Portions are good and prices are fair. We plan on going back during our stay. Finally thank you to the establishment owner Jose Pedro Santos for making us feel...

Simply amazing! From the moment José welcomed us in we knew we were in good hands. The multi-lingual menus are very helpful for food, and the staff were brilliant at handling allergy requirements. The food was delicious, we sampled as much as we could from each other. The cod fritters to start with were tasty, but wow! The mains. Grandma's Pork Stew was tender, the Farinha de pau (Cod corn porridge? Trust me it works) was delightfully different, the Migas was so filling and the vegetarian parcel and pasta dish too... I could go on and on about how amazing this traditional food was. Do yourself a favour and make sure to stop in here, grab a bottle of wine and treat yourself to a...

Beautiful, comforting and homelike little restaurant. Came here completely on accident with my partner, and it ended up being one of our favorite restaurants in all of Porto. The waitress was incredibly kind, and the owner told us the story of the restaurant and how he got many of the recipes from his Grandma. The food itself was delicious, classic Portuguese style food. Highly recommend grandma's pork stew, and the codfritters. Regardless of what you get for your starters and entrees, you absolutely must get their frozen chocolate mousse. It is one of the best desserts we have found in Porto, and will keep us coming back hopefully for years on end.
