Taverna do Município — Restaurant in Sintra

We stumbled into this restaurant on our first rainy day in Sintra. The staff was very friendly, the place was clean, the glass of wine was generous.

But really its most outstanding quality was the food. The pork was cooked to perfection, with plenty of delicious garlic and olive oil to go with. My terrible phone photo doesn’t even do it justice because it was just so tender and flavorful. We also had the octopus which again was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Since then we’ve tried out different nice restaurants in Sintra but this one is the one I definitely want to go back to.

I am so amazed they did all these in the tiny kitchen they had in the shop. I see some people were complaining about the wait time, but in reality we were warned well ahead that the dish could take 20 mins to make in the oven, and the dishes came earlier than that. I’d wait much longer for this level of deliciousness anyway....

We were visiting Sintra on a busy day and they prepared a table for the 5 of us really quick at 2pm. The food is good and the service is great, the owner, Pedro, will speak English, Spanish, Portuguese... And he is nice, courteous, kind, just a touch goofy, helpful, and he will explain the menu thoroughly. Beautiful little place just off the center of Sintra with some outdoor seating. Had a great baked codfish, smoked salmon salad, chicken with mushrooms... Took some time to get the food but you could tell it was freshly prepped. All good, and a decent creme brulee. It's nice to find people that still enjoy what they do these days, in such a busy place as Sintra, you can feel it and it's appreciated. They'll make you feel comfortable....

This is lovely little place with beautiful decor which is newly renovated. At first they brought cheese, olives, butter and bread to the table but said clearly that they bill only what we eat. We had the dish of the day which included the dish and class of water/wine or dessert. I also took main dish, dessert and drink and my fiance took class of wine and espresso. Everything was good quality, the food tasted great and the service was excellent. The dish sizes might be little small for the most hungry eaters, but we got full with the bread, main dish and dessert combo. Definetly recommend to visit this place when you...
